The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain

The staff is 5 stars all day everyday. Always friendly and willing to go the extra mile. My disappointment was small deficiencies with room quality. Slightly dated decor and two functional issues stood out in my room. The failing light switch in the bathroom that required a heavy hand to make function, and the sticking valve in the shower that gave you a very hot or very cold bathing experience. If this was a cheaper chain I'd write it off. As a premium brand and premium price point I expected better.

I hate putting a ONE star on any business but I am so upset at the Ritz. My wife and I attended their Christmas dinner two years ago where I proposed to her. It was one of the greatest experiences! The staff was so amazing, the dinner was perfect. We decided to experience this again this year. A couple days after Thanksgiving I called and reserved a room and asked about the dinner. The dinner reservations were not ready so they called me back a week or so later and we tried to work out seats to where we sat two years ago. I was so excited! Unfortunately, our plans had to change and I called a couple of weeks ago and cancelled the room, but kept the dinner plans. Last week we received a call from the staff saying we could not attend the dinner unless we had a room... we had reservations for a month! I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told the same. My wife and I are so upset over this. We had planned this weeks in advance and now have to race to find another place to eat... and also give up the fact that this is where I proposed to my wife on Christmas day two years ago when we also DID NOT HAVE A ROOM. Whoever made this policy made is real easy for me to never go back.

Just incredible. The staff is completely on point. The service is fantastic and the facility is super well thought out. The pool is large, warm and inviting. The mountain bikes, the golf course, and the local hikes were a huge bonus to have around. Our room was very well appointed and the cleaning staff was so thoughtful. Probably the best stay I've had anywhere. First class in every way.

Very relaxing and staff was kind

This is a really nice hotel. Well staffed with cleaning and restaurant personnel. Upon arrival, you will notice the valet company has complete control of your vehicle and bags. To circumvent them is very difficult, as they won't let you park near the front door and the only parking lot for you is unlit and a 10 minute walk. The valet company controls all nearby parking spaces. All baggage carts are maintained by busboy staff. We are not golfers, but it must be a golfers dream.
The restaurants are expectedly a little pricey but very good. We had sushi two nights of our 3 night stay. Another helping of the free cornbread during dinner is $5. You find out upon getting your bill. You get the picture. They also allow dogs in the dining area-I'm a fan of dogs but not a fan of that policy.
We had a first floor room facing the mountain. It was beautiful. We had a fire pit that was fun. The rooms are comfortable . Huge bathroom but a little funky design. Very hard pillows, but that's just me. Our room coffee was Nespresso, not really our fav, and I think our machine was broken which made brewing a cup very difficult. They had coffee for sale on sight from $5-$10.
The pool is surprisingly warm for December and well thought out. At night, near the hotel lobby, they had a band playing which was a wonderful addition, but not a band you could dance to, which is kind of Marriott style. They had heavily advertised s'mores, but when we went to participate we then found out they were an additional $28 and we declined; however, the s'mores chef could not have been sweeter. They also have extensive trails (We did the intense upper Javelina) which are very well thought out and scenic, but their printed trail map brochure is of little help. Come prepared for self discovery. All in all about a 4.6 stars, but rounding it up to a 5.

One of the top 3 hotels in AZ, especially if you want a peaceful and beautiful place to stay for a while away from noise and pollution. Food and service are fantastic as well.
