Historic property. Very nice staff.Report
I had such a classy experience staying here—it felt like stepping into a different era but with all the modern comforts. The room was spacious, clean, and had this elegant charm with its vintage decor and plush bedding. The staff? Absolutely top-notch; everyone was so polite and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The location was perfect too, right in the heart of everything but still quiet enough to feel like a retreat. My only minor complaint was that the Wi-Fi was a little spotty at times, but honestly, it didn’t ruin anything for me. Oh, and the bar downstairs had this cozy, upscale vibe with fantastic cocktails—definitely worth checking out. If you’re looking for a place that feels luxurious without being stuffy, this is it. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.Report
We decided to stay at the Raphael for Valentine’s Day weekend, and it was such an incredible experience. This was my first time in Kansas City, as I was visiting my girlfriend who teaches in Missouri, and from the moment we walked in, Tracee at the front desk made it so special. She posted us up in a King suite, which was a beautiful room that featured a gorgeous, spacious master bedroom, a very quaint and cozy living room, and a classic-style bathroom. The room really felt like our own little apartment.Report
Soon after we got to our room, Tracee sent us the sweetest handmade Valentine’s Day card and some chocolates. I almost shed a tear ???? Thank you so much for that.
The location of the hotel is perfect if you want to take advantage of the Plaza, as it’s just a few steps away.
The whole staff was super friendly, from the valet, to the management … the service was top-notch.
The Chaz Restaurant is great too. They play live music every night which makes it perfect for a romantic evening or even just a casual night out. It has a nostalgic old-school loungy vibe.
We absolutely loved our stay here, and will certainly be back whenever we’re in KC! ♥

I took my wife there for her birthday and we stayed in their biggest suite. The rooms were huge and the bathroom had a jet tub and a shower.Report
Love how they have preserved the 1927 architecture fused with modern updates
The view was amazing and the staff was friendly and right on top of everything.
The room was quiet and peaceful, so we were able to just "unplug" and enjoy each other's company and the luxurious environs.
One of our best experiences ever!
A winter weekend getaway in the jazziest city...truly warms you up! So dress warm and get out and have some fun...The Raphael is located right on the Country Club Plaza shopping district and also houses a restaurant that hosts jazz music nightly. Easy walk up the street to StockHill which is quite the experience (and more jazz...on most nights). We mainly made the trip to KC to see "The Great Wave at Kanagawa" woodblock print and exhibit at the nearby Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (serious, this place is in my top 5 international museums)--just a 5 minute drive away. It was the last weekend for the exhibit, but there's ALWAYS new exhibits on the way.Report
Positive: LOCATION AND HOTEL STAFF Negative: THE MIXUP WITH MY RESERVATIONReport
The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection is located in downtown Kansas City and offers a mix of both modern and historic design. Originally built in 1927 and later renovated in 1975, the transformation resulted in one of the most distinct hotels in the area with an ambiance that goes far and beyond that of standard "cookie cutter" hotel chains. With only one step outside the hotel, guests can discover some of Kansas City's best treasures and attractions.
Dine in the charming atmosphere at the hotel's Chaz Restaurant and Lounge which offers American cuisine and live music performed 6 night per week. Nearby restaurants include everything from seafood, to Asian dining.
Enjoy the on-site Sports Court, or venture out to participate in many local outdoor activities including fly-fishing, hiking/biking trails, hunting, horseback riding, rock climbing, tennis, and snow skiing in the winter months.
