Originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion The Barclay became a notable railroad hotel built to service the men and women travelling to New York City. Room was quite small and honestly mediocre- our original room's window was facing a wall & we had to go back down to reception and request a room with a nicer view. Our room after that had a partial view but really wasn't much of an improvement. Also left my pillow on the bed & housekeeping grabbed the sheets for cleaning w/ out checking for any personal items and it was never to be found. Beds were also very stiff.
Come to this establishment and be robbed.
My Wife's wedding band and engagement rings both stolen from our room.
General Manager unable to appear…Customer Relations Gabriel Nogueira, comes out with such poor manners and lack of knowledge… only repeats " we already filed a claim with insurance"… said it four times!
Chief of Security, Robert Jenks, able to be approached over the phone; unable to appear today when I flew across country to discuss this matter.
UNPROFESSIONAL, on all accounts.
We have filed a theft police report at 17th and midtown north NYPD both great, and extremely helpful handling it.
Stay away from this thieves nest!
Unreal, dishonest, and unprofessional management and obviously hotel staff.
Overall a 5/5 hotel tbh. Had some problems with Expedia. Contacted them and got a very nice manager Ruchi, who absolutely helped me to the best of her ability, issue resolved. Some staff members are rude though, especially when you call at night, that's where she gave me the wrong info causing a whole array of problems but thanks to Ruchi, my issue has been solved.
