Add ReviewThe person who works in the front desk was not nice at all no hi even that’s so disappointing and seemed uninterested in assisting guests also I felt like someone was forcing him to work. Furthermore , in the morning the housekeeping was knocking the door even we didn’t requested. Overall, I was very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend to others.Report
Not good unfortunately, we had high expectations but found our room to be quite outdated and noisy due to having multiple air conditioning machines for the hotel outside our window. We asked if we could move to a different room, but were told that they were fully booked…..we found this strange as there were still rooms available online.Report
I had a nice stay at this property, The front desk staff were responsive and Nick the bartender was terrific and very helpful. The property is a wonderfully renovated historic bank building. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is located just a bit outside of the Gaslamp district. The area felt safe during the day and somewhat safe after dark. I had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and both meals were quite good. I would certainly stay here again on a future trip.Report
Positive: I liked the historical building. Negative: The parking was atrocious and expensive. The streets surrounding the hotel were littered with trash, the smell of urine and other unclean human smells. Several of the characters around the building were blocking sidewalks and yelling. It was a bit much.Report
This is a great hotel inside a historic building with lots of characters. Hotel is located pretty much at the end of Gaslamp District on Broadway and 6th Avenue. Many restaurants and shops within the 4-5 blocks towards Gaslamp District direction. Trams/City Rails are also one block away so quite convenient. However like many reviews here indicated, there is absolutely no problem with the hotel but the location is challenging with lots of homeless people wandering around and very often right in front of your face. You simply cannot avoid running into them. I got stopped by a couple homeless people for money and drink inside the 7-11 store next to hotel the first night I came in, and it wasn't plesant. Fortunately Courtyard set up a stand with parking attendants outside main entrance monitoring the in-and-out foot traffic which makes things much better.||Having said, once you are inside the hotel, it is a totally different world. Quiet and filled with beautiful architectural details. Got upgraded to a nice suite with a separate living room, bedroom and bathroom space, nicely decorated with cleanline furnishing. Spent several days in this suite and couldn't be happier with the space.||Overall a happy stay at the Courtyard San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp. The only downside is room clearning is very sporadic. Cleaning ladies only came in two days out of my 5-day stay depsite I indicated daily service preferred but it is not a big deal.Report
Report
Restoration of historic bank building. Tell "Nick" the bartender that he is The Best!Report

If you want to pay $250 to be treated poorly and stay in a dirty room, then this place is for you!Report
The front desk staff was rude, the room was dirty and managers were unresponsive.
We stayed for two days and First, the shower was gross, someone blew nasty green snot on the shower that dripped down the wall, dried and was never cleaned. There were stains on my pillowcase, broken cabinet doors, and the lobby near the elevators always smelled musky.
In addition to that, the water was out from 10:30a - 4pm. We had an event that evening at 5pm, and when asking the front desk questions, they rudely advised us to prepare for our event at 9am instead. At that time, I asked for a manager to call me, they promised one would call at 11am. That never happened.
I returned to the front desk the following morning and again I was met with a combative and rude front desk lady who could not comprehend why I was “bothering” her with my problems when they let us know about the water outage by sliding a note under our door in the middle of the night. Again I asked for a manger to call me, and again they never did.
this was by far the worst hotel experience during not only this vacation, but the last few years of vacations.
If you wish to stay near the gaslight district, do yourself a favor and find a different spot. I do not recommend.

Showed up at 10pm on a Saturday of an intense work weekend to find the hotel oversold. Was forced to share with multiple colleagues. I'm a gold elite member. Absurd treatment for a frequent traveler and put me in an enormous bind with no time to find a better solution.Report
Rooms are very outdated. Wifi barely works. Staff was very friendly and trying their best, but in its current state this property is a "behind the woodshed" for the Bonvoy brand.
