• Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation  - Works to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the lagoon area, to protect sensitive land, and to promote balanced recreational and commercial uses consistent with assured future lagoon vitality. • Batiquitos Lagoon  - This nature center and lagoon consists of 610 acres and has a drainage basin of about 55,000 acres.
• Buena Vista Lagoon  - 223-acre wetland habitat is California's first ecological reserve, and home to the Buena Vista Audubon Nature Center.
• Guajome County Park  - Diverse native habitats such as woodlands, chaparral, wetlands, and mixed grasslands are ideal for bird watching.
• San Elijo Lagoon  - Nature conservancy center consisting of 1,000 acres. Includes 8 trail heads, 7.5 miles of trails and 700 species of plants and animals.
