UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital

World class psychiatry hospital with extremely conscience safety officers and staff.

All I gotta say is they let their patients call the cops on people from this hospital. They don't take away privileges.So nice for the cops to come to my residence because of someone's paranoid delusions, who couldn't even remember one second to the next that they even called the cops. I had someone close to me go here that was very sick and he should of been put in intensive care he was a danger to other patients putting his hands on them completely out of touch with reality. The staff couldn't promise me he'd stay as long as he should of and he was still very sick when he got out. No treatment plan or doctor set up after leaving just throwing him back into society again to cause havoc. I've never in my life seen a facility run like this.

not bad for a psych hospital

I was lucky enough to have good insurance so they kept me until i was out of crisis both time. i've been here twice, about 3 months each time (although the average stay is much shorter, i knew a lot of people who got discharged too early and that's really not ok but i think it happens everywhere.) the staff, at least on 11w, were so kind and helpful. they were genuinely respectful and treated me like a person rather than a problem, which i'm really not used to in the mental health system. this is the one, singular time i've been caught self harming and not shamed for it. it has issues for sure- the wait was severe, the food is bad, etc. but where i am now i'm hearing people's stories from belmont and clarion and yikes. i'm glad ive got yellow grippy socks.

For the most part it was pretty good. The staff where okay some where really nice some not that much. The people that where working with me are great. I got along with the patients. The only worse part was the wait. But overall it was not that bad then I thought it was.

By far the worst place to seek treatment if you or a loved one is in need. Beaver Valley Medical Center has a way better treatment team/program than this place here.

I spent one year trying to trust their judgment. I no longer have that trust in them.
