About Razer Huntsman Elite

The Razer Huntsman Elite has an interesting opto-mechanical switch design. It actually has a laser inside each switch, and the laser is what registers the keypress, not physical contact. While this is great for durability and can make the keypress actuation laser fast, it also draws more power than many other keyboards. Because of this, it uses up two of your USB ports, which is not ideal.

You can get the opto-mechanical in a linear red version or clicky purple version. The linear version actuates at just 1mm, which makes it incredibly easy to press quickly. It also means you can accidentally bump a key easier, though. The clicky version actuates at a slightly deeper 1.5mm, and produces a nice click sound.
