James Fowler Physical Therapy ReviewsLEAVE REVIEW FOR BUSINESS
Here's my starting point: James Fowler is a GREAT physical therapist. Not good, not very good. GREAT.
I have a case of severe lower back stenosis, and for the past four years he's kept me from having to face what everyone dreads: back surgery. Not only that, my symptoms have eased noticeably.
This April (4/29/21) I needed a knee replacement, and faced the usual lengthy rehab. Well, I finished it last week, and James again proved to me what a wonder he is. He knows everything there is to know about the human body, but what sets him apart (he's not my first PT) is his ability to come up with a Plan B and a Plan C and a Plan D as needed. You see, the cookie cutter approach is not the way to go in PT. Each rehab is unique; there's no one way to rehab a knee replacement, or keep a chronic back condition under control. Things change. Always.
And the great (there's that word again) PT knows when to adjust. When the swelling in my knee wasn't lessening as James wanted, which can happen (darn that randomness of life!), off I went to the other side of his office for lymphatic system massages. Boy, did they do the trick. Claire, his massage therapist, is a gem, and after the sessions with her I was on my way.
And it's not just James. His Trainer assistants are all winners, making sure we are doing our exercises the right way and explaining the do's and don'ts in ways that any patient can understand. His space is a safe haven, a place of expertise and encouragement. Heck, we go there because our bodies aren't working, and that is always unsettling, to say the least. But James steers us clear of what he calls the Disaster Narrative that's lurking in all our heads. He's the oasis of calm in the swirling world of worries (and pain) that besiege us. Simply, he's a good guy.
And a GREAT physical therapist!
I've been using message therapy sessions with Claire for Lymphatic Drainage and Noriko for a Massage. I had been going elsewhere for these types of treatments however, it looks like I'll be staying here! Claire helped me understand how lymphatic drainage could help my new health goals and I feel the difference after each session. Noriko's massages help aid my recovery time from dance and running activities and I'm so thankful for this! Being that this location is a Physical Therapy office you walk into a world where the team is constantly working with individuals through movement training and recovery. I like walking in and seeing how others are working towards becoming better versions of themselves. It inspires me!
I had an excellent experience in every way, and would highly recommend JFPT for anyone needing PT.
Stephanie Athanas was "my" PT, and I knew as soon as we met that I was in good hands. Her obvious competence and vast experience, combined with a friendly, caring manner is a rare find in health care these days. I feel lucky to have found her. And everyone else involved in my care -- from Idelsi at the front desk, to Pedro in billing, to Noriko when I came in for a massage, to all of the trainers -- made me feel welcome and cared for.
All I can say is... go to this place! Don't hesitate. I went in with several injuries and a lot of aches and pains, and left not just healed of those but also transformed in ways I didn't expect. I was drawn to JFPT's holistic perspective. I felt seen as a whole person, not just as a body part. I was under the very competent care of my physical therapist, Stephanie. Heed her suggestions: she has much wisdom to impart and she cares deeply about what she does. I also still use (as I move in real life) the movement cues of the very competent trainers (Emily, Tara (who I still do yoga with), and Anna). I was also fortunate to be a massage patient of the wonderful Noriko. I particularly liked JFPT's intimate setting: it isn't just a branch of some big corporation. I felt everyone I encountered contributed to its mission (shout out to Pedro at the billing department who cared, and to Idelsi at the front desk who lifted my spirits each time we saw each other).
Absolute professionals! The entire staff, from front desk to trainers to the therapists are all so caring and knowledgeable! You walk out feeling like a million bucks after therapy. They make sure you understand every step of your treatment and reevaluate your progress as needed to make sure your goals are met. I've recommended all of my friends and family for any of their physical therapy needs!
I am a long time patient of James Fowler - 20 years! I was born with club feet, and James has dedicated tremendous time and effort to helping me over the years. In fact, under his care, I've run 10 marathons and completed 4 triathlons! James gives highly personalized care and has a wonderful bedside manner. He truly cares about his patients and works hard to ensure that therapies and treatment plans are perfectly tailored to specific needs. In addition, everyone he brings into his office to assist with patient care is equally dedicated. I would wholeheartedly recommend James to anyone seeking outstanding physical therapy. He is someone who has really made a huge difference in outcomes for me!
