Timothy was first mentioned in the New Testament during the account of Paul's second visit to Lystra in Acts 16:1-2. There, he is described as a disciple and Paul calls him his "son in the faith." He accompanied Paul on ihs missionary trips through Phrygia, Mysia, Philippi, Corrinth, and Galatia. Paul's two letters to Timothy are included in the New Testament, and he clearly believed Timothy was laudable for his knowledge of scriptures.
