Jude identifies himself in the Book of Jude as "Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James." Church tradition has it that Jude preached the Gospel in Samaria, Judea, Syria, and Mesopatamia, among other places. According to Nicephorus Callistus, Jude was the bridegroom at the wedding of Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle. He is said to have been martyred along with Simon the Zealot in Persia.
