Crispus Attucks was the first person killed in the Boston Massacre and is commonly considered to be the first death of the American Revolution. Little is known about him, other than the fact that he was either mulatto or Indian, and it is probable that he was a runaway slave. In any event, he was struck twice in the chest during that massacre, and his body was carried to Faneuil Hall, where he lay in state for two days before being buried with the other dead from the melee.
