John Adams (October 30, 1735 - July 4, 1826) was one of the founding fathers who would eventually rise to become the second President of the United States. Possibly best known for his enactment of the Alien and Sedition Acts, he was defeated in his re-election bid by Thomas Jefferson, who he had punished with the Acts. He was the father of the sixth President, John Quincy Adams, and the husband of the beloved Abigail Adams.
