The Order Struthioniformes contains the flightless birds known as Ratites. Their name derives from the shape of the sternum, which doesn't have a keel and therefore can't anchor the wing muscles to allow flight.

Members of this order include Emus, Rheas, Kiwis, Cassowaries, and Ostriches.
