Caprimulgiformes is an order of largely insectivorous and nocturnal birds. Caprimulgiformes comes from the Latin for goat sucker, which is how the European nightjar was once reputed to feed. There is controversy over the birds included in the order but it generally taken to include nightjars, the Oilbird, frogmouths, pootoos, and New World nighthawks.
