The Skye Terrier originated on the isle of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides and was recognized by the Unite Kennel Club as a breed in 1993. Skye Terriers became popular when Queen Victoria of England acquired one and the famous canine statue of Greyfriars Bobby in Edinburgh Scotland is that of Bobby, a faithful Skye Terrier.
