Ear candling, or ear coning, is a folk medicine practice intended to remove earwax (cerumen) and toxins from a person's ear by placing one end of a hollow candle in the ear canal and lighting the other end of the candle. In theory, the vacuum created by the heat of the burning end of the candle can clean out the ear. This claim has been contested and disproved by medical researchers and at present, manufacturers of ear candling or coning supplies have shifted to attaching another benefit claim with the procedure -- overall wellness. Resources in this category include products, information and education about ear candling, practitioners and testimonials.
