The film legend Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924-July 1, 2004) was in the performing arts for more than 50 years. His breakthrough roles were Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire," and Terry Malloy in "On the Waterfront" in the beginning of the 1950s. In later years, his best-known roles were as Colonel Walter Kurtz in "Apocalypse Now" in 1979, and Don Corlone in "The Godfather" and numerous spinoffs and sequels of that movie.
