Aptly named for its self-playing ability, the player piano is also called an autopiano. It is also widely known as the pianola though such name is a trademark property of Aeolian Corporation frequently being used to refer to other makes. It plays when the keys are electronically actuated by a pneumatic device or through electronically-driven solenoids that serve as strikers.
