Got 2 calls from The Virginian within 3 hours today so called back. My 94 year old Mother is a resident there for 9 years. Called back and was told by their receptionist that they had no idea why I was contact and they could not help on this in any way including contacting my Mother via phone. They said no one was there that could help on this and made no attempt to find out why I was contacted.

We have known and worked with The Virginian for approximately 12 years, first with/for my mother-in-law and more recently for my wife, and all of our experiences there have been extremely positive right from the start. My MIL was in Assisted Living for about 7 years and then Memory Care for several months, and finally in their nursing home unit. We are currently working with them for a studio in the soon-to-be-finished Phase 1 renovations of their Memory Care unit. I have been working closely with Allison Vassberg in their Marketing Department for my wife's placement and she has been fantastic about answering questions, arranging a hard-hat tour of the unit (the construction crew is still working so these have to be coordinated in advance), and providing a wealth of information as we get closer to the move-in time. Besides being extremely professional, she has also been very pleasant and as helpful, accommodating, and supportive as she can be to make my wife's move as easy as possible. One of the reasons we chose The Virginian is the low turnover of its staff. Many of the caregivers and support people who we knew from when my MIL moved in are still there and they know us, always greeting us with big smiles and warmth. This holds for the nurses, CNAs, housekeeping staff, kitchen staff and maintenance staff, as well as many of the management and social worker team. They treat us like family and that is truly appreciated because in a way, we are family caring for a loved one. Thank you Allison and The Virginian staff.

Mark: Thank you so much for your kind words. Your comments are especially meaningful as they reflect not only your current, but many years prior good experience with our community. We are very proud to have been of service to Northern Virginia for 40 years, and very excited for our $56 million renovation project, which will include not only expanded and state-of-the-art Memory Care, but renovation throughout or Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing services – even our outdoor grounds! As noteworthy is your acknowledging the longevity of many of our team members. We know that our "people" are what truly makes the difference, and our long history of low turnover within the senior living industry is a testament to the level of professionalism and commitment our team members bring with them each day. They truly care for and love the residents…and the feeling appears to be mutual! Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and we look forward to continuing to work with you and your wife as we complete our Phase 1 Memory Care renovations.

We have looked at a dozen continuing care retirement centers in Northern Virginia and nearby Maryland. We have a soft spot for the Virginian because my parents lived there happily for over 10 years -- enjoying their final chapter with lovely friends, attentive administrators, and a caring community.

We became interested in living there ourselves when we received information about the 56 million dollar renovation that is underway. Recently we visited to learn more about the community. Alton Ward in the Marketing Department is the epitome of professionalism. He has answered scores of our questions and been so patient with our quest.

We highly recommend this beautiful community, close to the fabulous Washington DC area, and neighboring shops and restaurants. We're so anxious to see the completed renovation in the upcoming year.

Thank you Marilyn! We appreciate your long association with the community and it's 40 years of service to Northern Virginia! We are very excited about our renovations and all that The "New" Virginian will have to offer, from upgraded apartments, multiple beauty salons, art studio, indoor golf simulator, to dining venues including our Penthouse "Rock Creek Grill" , "The Clubhouse" sports bar, and "Lattitude 77" bistro. We will also be expanding our Memory Care services to provide state-of-the-art care and technology. As exciting, we will be completing renovation soon of our 32 acres of grounds, to include a putting green, Bocce ball and Pickleball courts, "Central Bark" dog park, and "The Island" - including water features, an outdoor grill and fire pit, and pergola. We can't wait to share and hope to see you soon!

A wonderful place with caring staff and friendly residents. After visiting other assisted living facilities in the area, The Virginian stood out as the most comprehensive and professional.

My Dad just moved into assisted living after a time spent in rehab there as well. From the nursing staff to the physical therapists to the staff doctor my Dad was well cared for. Daphne was very responsive to all my questions and concerns.
Many thanks to Jenna Ballard for all her efforts in communication and support while making the transition from rehab to assisted living. She was always responsive to any question or concern, from welcoming my Dad with homemade cookies to spending time with him as he made this adjustment.
Move in day was smooth and seamless due to the efforts of Mary who made sure we knew what was happening all through that process. She was so welcoming and helpful to my Dad in getting him acquainted with the assisted living information which helped my Dad feel welcomed.
This has been quite the journey and I am so thankful for the staff of the Virginian. God bless.

The Virginian remains an important part of the quality of life for residents of Fairfax County and neighboring areas. Their foresight for the growth and the quality of their homes is excellent. Allison Vassberg, The Community Relations representative, did a superb job of explaining the current and future plans of The Virginian.
