Record Production

These days there are countless options for artists when it comes to cutting their record. We understand the importance of choosing the right producer, engineer, and recording facility: One that can embrace the artists direction and achieve the sound that they desire. We know how it feels to put your heart and soul into writing a record. So we take the time to maintain your artistic integrity and achieve your vision for the project.

We begin every project with a series of pre-production sessions. These sessions are spent reviewing the material, discussing the direction of the record, choosing session players (if necessary), and rehearsing the songs. We believe that great records come from great takes. So we make sure that everyone is ready to go, before we step into the studio.

During tracking, we take the time to get it right. Sometimes that magic take happens on the first pass. Other times, it takes a couple runs to get the vibe. Either way, we will bring it on back until we capture that moment where everything comes together just right. We work to get it down during tracking and never rely on "fixing it in the mix."

In the mixing and mastering stages, we provide further depth and clarity to the recordings. We utilize an extensive collection of analog outboard gear, as well as the latest in digital plug-ins. We have a great team of mastering engineers that we use for putting the final touch on our records.

In order to allow our clients to focus on the music, not the clock, we offer package rates that include all aspects of the record production process. These rates are determined on a per project basis and vary based upon the requirements for the record.

Demo Production

The Record Shop provides a wide range of demo production services for songwriters and artists. We offer guitar/vocal, piano/vocal, and full band demos. We approach each song based on the direction of the writer. In order to achieve the writers vision for the recording, the production style, session players, and vocalists are all hand-picked for each song. Our session players are world-class musicians who specialize in a variety of genres. We also have an excellent team of session vocalists to choose from.

If you need help developing your material, we can assist in songwriting and composition as well.

Mixing, Drum Tracking, and Overdubs

If you are working on home recordings and are interested in taking your project to the next level, you may be interested in our mixing, drum tracking, or overdub services.

We provide our DIY clients with the opportunity to have a professional mix of their recordings. There are many great advantages to having your home recordings mixed in a professional facility, by an experienced engineer. Through the use of high-end audio converters, analog processing, and years of experience, we can help you greatly improve your final product. If we feel that your initial recordings could use some improvement before mixing, we can offer advice on recording methods as well. In addition to mixing, we handle a wide range of editing tasks. These include: tuning vocals, editing audio, fixing timing issues, supplementing drum sounds, etc.

The Record Shop can also provide superior drum recordings and auxiliary instrumentation for your project. We offer overdub services for virtually every instrument, and have a wide-range of top session players to choose from. We start by discussing the tone you are after and choose the player that will best fit the vibe of the material. If you are not able to make it to the session, we can stream the session via webcam so you can provide input during the recording process. Once the recording is complete, we will send you the files in your preferred format.

Artist Development and Marketing

Once the record is complete, you may be asking yourself, "What now? How can I effectively break through and stand out amongst the crowd?" Fortunately, the power structure within the modern music industry has shifted to the benefit of the artist. Various methods of promotion, radio support, distribution, and touring have all been made readily available to the independent artist. The key is deciding which paths to take and implementing an effective strategy to develop your brand.

We offer artist development and marketing programs that can help provide the necessary steps to effectively promote your project. We start by assessing your goals. Next, we develop a comprehensive marketing plan based upon those goals. At this point, we can provide you with the tools to implement this plan independently or, you can team up with one of our marketing reps to handle your promotion.
