The Lock Up Self Storage

Tons of hidden charges. Very poor customer service. Person on the phone couldn't answer my Questions and did not have a manager or anyone I could speak to.

We have been renting storage units with The Lock Up Storage for a few months now. Especially at the beginning there were some uncertainties and challenges regarding timing and sizing from our side, but Tammy and Ariel were extremely helpful, flexible and on point with everything. Never did we have to follow up, responses were very quick and always solution-oriented. We got what we needed in a timely fashion, and when we had to make some changes down the road, that was all done quickly without any headaches. Overall, our experience has been great!

In one year my monthly fee went from $120 to $200. Very shady business.

This is a great facility. Its clean and climate control. Convenient location and the staff are always attentive to our needs. The package acceptance is awesome. Always reliable with notifications of deliveries .

After renting at The Lock Up for just over a year, I have been notified of my second rate increase. My rate has increased now nearly 40% in almost a year. In fact, I could rent a new unit of the same size from The Lock Up at almost 30% less than my new rate. I called the company to and was told their policy is to increase rent 6 months after the lease starts and every 9 months thereafter. According to the company, this is disclosed under the standard lease provision regarding the landlord's right to increase the rent. I have rented several storage spaces in the past and have never had rent increased so frequently or so much. While I understand costs go up and rates change, this schedule and the amount of increase is shocking. And, the fact that the increases make the unit more expensive than units of the same size are being offered now is all the more crazy. It seems predatory. Unfortunately, once you're in, it will cost you more to change storage spaces, so I am stuck for the time being. But, I won't be renting from The Lock Up in the future.

They are always friendly and helpful! They always have the best deals, versus other close by competitors. This is my second time renting from here, never disappoint. Very clean and organized.

Because of Covid, I just experienced major difficulties with my bank to get my card. It's finally resolved. Tammy was very patient and helped me through this ordeal. I've been renting since ... 2007!!

I called to get information about vacating my storage unit and I was yelled at the whole time by Tammy. Every interaction I have had with this facility has had poor customer service. Please do not spend your money here.

This Lock Up location is managed by Tammy and her associates, who go above and beyond to find the perfect solution for customers. It's the only such place I would consider in Chicago. Highly recommended
