We had a very sensitive family matter arise in Connecticut. It was an intense DCF case that immediately went to DCF Juvenile court in Bridgeport. A very high level person in Connecticut law enforcement recommended calling Mark. After reading reviews online and reading all the DCF articles on Mark’s DCF website, it was clear he knew what he was doing. Hiring Mark and his team was the single most important action we took. They were are our lifeline. They knew the players and the system. I will be eternally grateful to Mark and his team for guiding us through this very difficult situation and getting the results we were looking for in a timely manner. Something needs to be either exceptionally poor or way beyond expectations for it to illicit a digital response from me. So, let's talk about the Law Offices of Mark Sherman, LLC. Everything with them from end to end was exceptional.
Short version: One of my sons got into some trouble out of state. In doing my diligence, I read up on legal representation in the area and narrowed it down to 10 law firms, which later was trimmed to five. By luck, I contacted Mark first through his website, and in a mere moment, my phone rang. It was Mark himself. Fast and attentive, which impressed me immediately. I did not expect a call back that quickly, nor did I expect someone to respect my situation enough for me to talk through it. I never felt rushed or talked over. Mark was respectful and patient.
We ran through the scenario at a high level, and Mark knew who on his team to connect me to. He got Caitlin on the line with us right then, and together we went into some more detail of the situation. We outlined an initial strategy on this call, and I disconnected from it feeling good. I never actually contacted another legal team on my shortened list. I knew I had found the right fit.
I need to call out Caitlin specifically. I'm sure Mark's entire team is top talent, but Caitlin really crushed it. We had frequent emails, and I never had to wait longer than a day for a response (usually much faster, but sometimes she was in court – completely get that). We held video calls to touch base, discuss updates in the case, and hold strategy sessions. She made sure I understood the plan every step of the way. She answered all of my questions in easy to understand language, and did not speak down to me.
That is important. I’m a professional in my field, and I like to think I excel at what I do, but I know I sometimes talk down to people who do not have my experience or education. I know this because I have caught myself doing it. Never intentionally, but it happens. For example, I might start throwing out IT acronyms in conversation and forget that not everyone lives in my IT bubble.
Never happened with Caitlin. I never had a moment of discussion with her where I felt uncomfortable or had to ask what she meant by some legalese - she laid it out and kept it easy to follow. She was very confident and reassuring while making sure I understood and had level set my expectations. It could go this way… but we were pretty sure it would go this other way. By the time my son went in front of the judge, I had a great idea of what might play out.
My son, now back closer to home, was in a position to not face jail and fines if he managed to meet the terms the judge laid out in court: stay out of trouble for the next 12-months. He has, and he did. Every step Caitlin outlined as her target was achieved. All of them. I can’t think of a recent time I made a plan and everything executed flawlessly. Next to impossible in my field.
Fast forward to yesterday. Caitlin emailed us and said as of 5pm that day, the criminal case was dismissed. I am not kidding, I yelled "hell yeah!" *waaaaay* too loud. Imagine a quiet office setting of people murmuring into headsets, or trying to stay awake because this Teams call has executives in attendance, so cameras have to be active... You get the picture. Everyone doing their work quietly. Someone in the far corner yells "HELL YEAH!" really loudly and very unexpectedly across the entire open floor plan. It got their attention; I have never seen so many heads pop up over cube walls, and I didn't care. Some strange looks today too, but worth it.
I could not recommend Caitlin and Mark any higher. I sincerely recommend the Law Offices of Mark Sherman to anyone that wants the best representation available. They took a bad situation and helped a young man recover from a mistake rather than become a statistic in the system. We are grateful. This was premium, first class service from start to finish.
