About Southern Outdoor Furniture

n the winter of 1995-1996, two brothers, Kevin and Steve Miller started a new enterprise in an old building in downtown Auburn, Kentucky. They began to manufacture swings, gliders, benches, arbors, and picnic tables out of grade one pressure treated pine. Neither brother had any working capital, so Steve took out a $5000.00 loan on his 6 year old car to launch the business. They retailed much of the first year's production from their own location, but started a dealer network as well.

The first two years the brothers would take on stone and brick jobs in the fall and winter months to supplement their income. In 1997 Joe Miller, father of the brothers, bought into the business to make it possible to build a new store on US 68-80. When the new facility was completed, the family had a showroom large enough to show outdoor products like wrought iron and cast aluminum dining furniture. It was decided at that point to expand into Amish Handcrafted indoor furniture as well.

From these humble beginnings the family project has grown into a full service furniture store, including a wide selection of premier patio products and high quality handcrafted indoor furniture for every room inside the home.

Southern Outdoor Furniture has always been about quality products and top shelf customer service. (Many of the outdoor products that were built in the first year of operation are still in use today.)
