South Beach Marriott

Location is super nice, on the beach and near a great park and lots of restaurants. Our room was just okay. Nice ocean view but the chairs on the balcony aren’t very comfortable and there was a metal piece sticking out of the door that ripped my husband’s shirt. The real trouble was the service. Everything was SLOW. Those I talked to were super nice, so it seems like more of a management / short staffing problem than an issue with the employees - but wait times for everything were horrendous. Only one working elevator so you had to wait up to 15 minutes to get up or down sometimes. We would have taken the stairs but we were on the 10th floor with a baby. Ordering food or drinks at the pool? Be prepared to wait 45 mins to an hour. Need a cart sent up to your room? Valet may be busy for 2 hours. The other kicker was one of the two pools and the only hot tub were broken for our whole stay. Both were also roped off with caution tape which was not very aesthetic. This was our second stay because we really enjoyed our first! However I don’t think we’ll be coming back. Or if we do, we’ll call first to ask about any amenity closures!

The location is second to none. The staff was friendly and super helpful. However, during our stay and apparently others raised that too, one of the elevators was broken as well as one of the pools. The hotel itself is a little outdated and has an 80s vibe.

Breakfast offer is poor, room views are great and pool is a nice add. Better dining options would be good.

This was the first time staying at this hotel. I must say this is a clean, beautiful property. The atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming. Such a great value.

I am now taking legal action against this establishment based off a lie and an accusation! I don’t smoke and I was told my room smelled like smoke and they will not release my security deposit. BEWARE DONT stay here ! They are money hungry and will make up anything to not give you your money back ! Run FARRRRR AWAY! Least I’ll be more than $150 richer after I sue them :)

Our group had a block of rooms booked by platinum and titanium members. On our last night before we checked out, we asked for a couple rooms to have late checkout so we could go to the beach for a while before our flight. We were told only two rooms would be extended for only one hour, which is not much at all but I guess understandable given that they were fully booked. The next day, they informed us only one room would have an extra hour and the second room would have only a half hour. They also denied that the conversation the previous night had taken place. We begged and pleaded for them to honor the (extremely modest) extra hour they agreed to so we would have time to shower but they stubbornly refused… and so now they have this 100% accurate review to read. Do not stay at this hotel if you value customer service
