About Schofield James Chiropractor

I chose the profession of Chiropractic because I have always been interested in fitness, health, nutrition, and sports and because a Doctor of Chiropractic helped me through a high school sport injury which had not responded to traditional medical care.

To achieve a strong foundation in sciences as well as general university studies, I majored in Biology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I selected the National College of Chiropractic because of special emphasis there on sciences, laboratory work, studies of human anatomy, including dissection, and techniques of adjustment. Also because it was the college recommended by the Doctor of Chiropractic who had successfully treated me for my sports injury. The National College of Chiropractic was established in 1906 and is now located in Lombard, Illinois, near Chicago. The college has a number of laboratories with doctoral classes in Biomechanics, Anatomy/Embryology, Diagnosis, Pathology, Radiology, Physiology, Orthopedics, Chemistry, Neurology, Microbiology, Ergonomics, Physical Therapy, and Chiropractic, or spinal correction through manipulation. The National Chiropractic College involves five years of schooling after undergraduate college degree. While attending The National College of Chiropractic, I served a one-year internship at various clinics and in-patient Chiropractic Hospital, all in the Chicago area, treating a wide variety of cases. While in Chiropractic college to help pay for my education and for additional practical experience, I worked part-time for a Doctor of Chiropractic. In this manner, I observed and participated in the successful application of the subjects I was studying.

After graduation, for additional experience before setting up my own practice, I worked for a Chiropractor in Florida, then as a director of a Chiropractic office in New Jersey. I passed State Board examinations in Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and continue to maintain licenses in all three states. In 1985, I began private practice in the North Hills. To keep abreast of new concepts, developments, and techniques in health care, I constantly attend seminars regarding these subjects on a regular basis. For example: I completed over 300 hours of study in Neurology, the most advanced course of this type related to Chiropractic care and became Board-Certified in Chiropractic Neurology. Learning is a never-ending and interesting process!
