Truly cannot thank Ben and Ryan at Riley Subaru for working so hard to get me into a reliable vehicle after being completely screwed over by a different dealership. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a vehicle to go here! Truly a 10/10 experience for making things completely stress free for me after stressing over my prior vehicle for a couple of months. So appreciative of these guys and how hard they work and how great they do at their job!

My wife and I purchased a new 2024 Subaru Ascent in March. We travel daily on about a 3/4 mile stretch of gravel. Around May, we noticed that the inside of the car started getting dusty, especially around the second-row seats, which were covered in a layer of dust, and it was accumulating in the seams or crevices.
We contacted Riley Subaru about it and they said bring it in and they would put some silicone on the door seals. I thought this was ridiculous. It's a brand new car. Why would the door seals need to be covered in silicone?

That did not work. We brought the car back again, and they put on new door seals. That also didn't work. Dust was still coming in.
We brought the car back a third time and they did a smoke test. They found there was smoke entering the car through “pressure vents”. These are on every car and they keep your windows from blowing or popping out when you shut the doors. We were asked to leave the car there while they try to figure this out.
They gave us a loaner to use, the same as our current car, a brand new 2024 Ascent. They wanted to see if it had the same issue. And, it did. Dust was coming in to this car too, and accumulating all over, covering the seats and other areas. It turns out, it is a design flaw, but we soon learned, Riley’s didn't want to do anything to help us through it.

Our car sat there for 3 weeks, and nothing was done to correct the problem. We were told there's nothing they could do and we needed to contact Subaru corporate. I asked to see the General Manager, but they sent out the Sales Manager, who gave me the GM’s card, with Subaru’s corporate number written on the back. I told the Sales Manager that we would like our money back. He said, “that's not possible.” I explained that the car is defective and I would just like our money back. His response again, “that's not possible.” I was told again that I’d have to talk to Subaru corporate.

I didn’t feel like we were being given any attention or concern by Riley’s. When I told the Sales Manager, “I've been running a business for 30 years, and if a customer comes back to my stores with a problem, we take care of them at the store. We don't make them call a corporate number.” He was very condescending and basically said, “Well, we sell cars, and your product isn't a car.” Implying that his business is above mine. That is not the way for anybody in any position at a business to treat a customer.
In the end, Riley’s tried to play it off that, “we live on a gravel road and cars get dusty.” As they discovered themselves though, dust should not be coming through these vents. My car is defective, and they seemed to have given up on us.

This was our second Subaru in 10 years, but after this, it will be our last. We're going to share our story to everyone, about what our treatment was like, and they would be wise to never buy a Subaru, or do business with Riley Subaru of Dubuque.

Ben did an amazing job at helping us with the vehicle we came to see! Made the whole process as easy as possible. We were in an out in less than 2 hours. Drove 3 hours to look at a used van on their lot and left with only good things to say!
