Positive: There was a Starbucks in the lobby and the location was about a 8 minute drive from the airport. Negative: This hotel should not have been above 3 stars. Musty, super old, and uncomfortable. I ordered a king room and it was so musty my allergies were awful all night, they had a radio from the 90¿s, and there was clear damage everywhere.

Chicago has many hotels, ranging from the budget- oriented hotels in the suburbs to the fancy, high priced hotels in or near downtown. On a recent trip to Chicago, I needed a place to stay that was not too expensive, yet still comfortable and close to the train station, for easy transportation. My choice?- the Renaissance Hotel Chicago O'Hare Airport.
According to official sources, this hotel has 362 suites total, on 16 floors. There are different sizes of suites, but all feature at least a mini- fridge, a large desk, a sofa sleeper, etc. The pillowtop beds are comfortable and the absence of noise means you can fall asleep- and stay asleep- with relative ease.
Renaissance Hotel Chicago O'Hare Airport has a few amenities, such as a pool, exercise room, restaurant, bar, and a Starbucks, which is located right next to the front desk. None of the amenities really stands out, but that is fine by me. I stayed here more for the location and to have a place that was safe to get to, and that offered comfortable sleeping. In that respect, I got what I wanted.
This hotel isn't in downtown, so what is so good about the location? Well, it is right next to the airport, and there is free airport shuttle to and from the hotel. Not only that, but the train station is just steps away. This combination means you can stay here and use these alternative means of transportation, to save money. This is a good idea and something I recommend for short stays. You save on the cost of a car rental, and you save on the cost for on- site parking, which is overpriced.
The service at this hotel is nice and friendly. I was especially grateful for the help I received in the late night hours, when I couldn't find my phone. The person at the front desk was very helpful and we successfully found my phone. I liked the shuttle driver too- very nice and helpful going to and from the airport.
Renaissance Hotel Chicago O'Hare Airport isn't a five- star hotel like those in the downtown area. But it does rate highly for comfort, quietness, and its closeness to the airport, perfect for those who worry about catching their flight. Except for the parking, it's reasonably priced, too, and when all factors are considered, it rates as a good choice for lodging in the greater Chicago area.
