I have extensive experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, loneliness, life transitions and relationship difficulties such as persistent conflict, emotional disconnection and breakdowns in communication. My approach is warm, empathic and interactive, and I bring more than 25 years of clinical experience to the therapeutic process. In working with individuals, I combine insight-oriented, relational and cognitive perspectives to help clients achieve their goals While symptom-relief is certainly an important gauge of success, therapy is a journey of self-discovery and transformation whose benefits will be more profound and longer-lasting when they have been fully integrated into one's life and psyche. Individual therapy is helpful in addressing a broad range of concerns.
My work with couples focuses on helping partners remove barriers to emotional and physical intimacy by learning to identify and repair ruptures in their attachment bond that have left both partners feeling hurt, fearful and alone. I use concepts from Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT) to guide couples in discovering the underlying pain and fear that prevents genuine emotional intimacy. Couples are then able to transform negative interactions into opportunities for compassion, closeness and a deeper sense of security.
