About Owl Hollow Farm

Our vision in creating Owl Hollow Farm was to build an organization that is a powerful part of the community. Many times families are broken and children fall through the cracks of our education and social services systems. Other times children just need a loving and accepting environment to begin the heal the scars that are not visible to the outside world. This is what we endeavor to provide at OHF.

Services Owl Hollow Farm Offers

Each child that comes to Owl Hollow Farm is paired with a horse and a mentor that best fits their personality and needs. For approximately 60 minutes the child may groom, feed or just sit and talk to the horse under the constant supervision of their mentor. It is our goal to help the child and the horse become comfortable with this interaction.

Riding is not our primary goal, equine assisted intervention is. By learning to care for an animal, children learn independence and responsibility and can begin to care for their own emotional needs which may not have been previously addressed.

We teach FREE ten-week sessions from April through October each year. These sessions are intended to help each participant succeed and learn the skills listed above. Your child does NOT need to have special needs to participate. Our program is open to ALL children.

More About Owl Hollow Farm

We provide a place of safety, acceptance and healing for children in need; a shelter from the storms of life. We actively maintain programs to bring horses back to health and bring joy and hope to children. In 2010 we began laying out the groundwork for an equine assisted intervention program for children. We started with just seven children off-and-on and by 2013, we facilitated just under 120 sessions for the season. This year we will teach around 500 sessions for approximately 65 children. We can't wait to see how the program will continue to expand and touch lives.
