I was interested in a 2022 Subaru Outback from Muskegon Subaru. I spoke with a salesperson, who confirmed the car was available, and within 60 seconds of answering the phone asked me how much I could afford. I asked for a quote on both a lease and purchase option. He ignored my request, and twice more over the next few minutes aggressively asked how much I could afford. When I again asked for a quote, he sidestepped my request and said that he could tell from my caller ID that I was from out of town, said they couldn't count on me to be a return customer or a service customer, and just said that I'd be looking at 6% over invoice--and adding "good luck finding one for less." Aggressive, rude, unwilling to provide a basic and reasonable level of assistance. I've been part of the Subaru family since 1996, and while I'm disappointed to be leaving, I'll consider myself lucky not having done business with Muskegon Subaru. I understand the current market, but expected better out of Subaru as a company, and am surprised that they're tolerating this approach from their brand representatives.

Mark unfortunately a 3 star review really hurts our overall rating. Is there anything specific we can do to provide a 5 star experience to future guests?

Austin was great, no real pressure to buy and walked us through the sales process. The lounge is pleasant with plentiful seating if your getting your vehicle serviced.

Andrew I am having trouble finding you in our system. Is there anything we can do to provide our future guests with a 5 star experience?

Would be very weary of ordering a Subaru from this dealership. The salesperson I spoke with was named Steve. It was previously discussed that I would qualify for a supplier discount by working in the automotive industry. As well as coming from the Detroit area they said they were also giving me the discount because of that. No discussion of having to specifically be enrolled in the Subaru VIP program. I waited three months for this vehicle, communication back and forth all of the months, and two days prior they ask for the VIP coupon code. There was no discussion of having to be enrolled in this program in order to qualify - the text messages said an automotive supplier discount will qualify (in writing). The manager used the excuse via phone that "we're not mind readers". This should have been clearly stated prior to waiting three months for a car that it was a specific program. As well as being misled they were giving me this discount because I was going to be driving 2 1/2 hours to get the car from the Detroit area. Avoid this dealership and pay attention to the other negative reviews, the manager is *clearly* not helpful and not willing to make situations right.

Unfortunately the Subaru Supplier Discount program is not dealer controlled. You actually need to be approved through Subaru to qualify. If you don't qualify for the supplier discount you don't qualify for the supplier discount pricing.
