The Mississippi Metropolitan Dance Academy is the official school of the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet. Our students have won numerous awards in competition and have been accepted to prestigious summer workshops across the country. In 2005, MMDA sent three dancers to the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City. At the Greenville, SC YAGP Semi-Finals, Jennifer Beasley and Victoria Lee Ramsay were honored with the Outstanding Teacher Award. Each summer, MMDA hosts a two-week summer intensive workshop with world-class guest faculty. Our guest teachers have included Orlando Molina, former Ballet Master for Orlando Ballet Adam Sage, Artistic Director of Missouri Ballet Theater and former Artistic Director of the Virginia School of the Arts and Daryl Bjoza, Director of Cincinnatis School for the Creative and Performing Arts and star of the MTV reality series Taking the Stage. MMDA Alumni include Miss Mississippi 2003 Allison Kellogg Americas Jr. Miss 2005 Kelli Schutz and 2002 USA IBC competitor Sarah Newman, who also danced professionally with the Alabama Ballet. Other former students are currently dancing professionally, teaching, choreographing , and supporting the arts nationwide.
