Jay Heaverlo is an Iowa native that has been studying and practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)since 2002. He completed his graduate program in TCM at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA. After graduation, he traveled to Hangzhou, China to do advanced studies. In addition to his studies of TCM, he has also studied the Chinese language for several years. He finds that this has greatly benefited his deeper understanding of the medicine by enabling him to access 3,000 years of medical writings. He has chosen to practice TCM because after much looking, he found it to be the most complete, well-rounded, holistic form of health care available. TCM seeks to treat the underlying cause of disease and poor health, not just the symptoms, using diet and supplements, herbal medicine and acupuncture.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are the foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a practice more than 4,000 years old. TCM works to strengthen the body's energy, therefore allowing it to heal itself utilizing techniques such as acupuncture, tui na, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, diet and nutritional therapy and cupping.
