Add ReviewDon't go here unless you want your personal information handed out to anyone who asks! This dealership is very shady. I traded my old Subaru in at a dealership in Charlotte NC, that dealership sold it to Maxwell Subaru, Maxwell Subaru sold it and gave out my personal information to the new owner of the car so the new owner could attempt to have my extended warranty transferred into his name. (The form clearly states that if the car is not sold private party, you can't transfer the warranty). The car had an issue after Maxwell Subaru sold it, but didn't want to take responsibility, and was willing to commit warranty fraud to get out of fixing the car. I tried to talk to Dick Maxwell about this situation, but he continues to ignore me. His name is true to his personality.Report
Both my girlfriend and I have worked in the dealership business, so we know how it works. Maxwell Volvo totally turned us a 180. Basically the whole Maxwell family works there, they are super super friendly and they helped us out a bunch. Dray is the calmest least pushy salesman I have ever encountered. He knows his cars. He was the one that was like "Drive it like a Subaru." My girlfriend and I have payed cash with everything so we had NO credit before going in and we did not think we could. I gave Brandon all our info, and by some magic we ended up buying a car. I have never had a more awesome experience, the vehicle is VERY well maintained, and just because I had such a great experience with the sales department, all my work will be done there. Thank you guys!Report
This place is MISERABLE. I went to go and trade in my car for a new Subaru Crosstrek. They were able to find one I wanted nearby, but they would have to order it. I figured this wouldn't be a problem. Well, I was able to work out a deal with the saleswoman Angela Maxwell, who was relatively personable and straightforward though she did take several smoke breaks. I had a signed offer that I took home to sleep on. I went back the next day and decided to go ahead with the deal because the price was great. When I got there, the finance manager, Rich Corcoran, decided that he would not honor a signed offer from the new car manager. He wanted to pay me $1,300 less for my vehicle than the signed offer. WHAT A SCUMBAG. It took him speaking to Subaru of America to get him to honor the signed offer. Then, when I wanted to pay a refundable deposit for them to order the car I wanted, they refused to make it refundable. I am not about to pay $500 on a car I have never seen and have it show up damaged. The general manager, Britt Maxwell, said he would not guarantee me delivery of a car without damage and would not make the deposit refundable under any circumstances. It was disgraceful. VW has already pulled out of this dealership, and I'm sure it won't be long before Subaru and Volvo do the same. They are not friendly and not honest or up front about anything. Plus they try to hide their $389 dealer fee. This is an awful place to do business. I ended up going to Folger Subaru in Charlotte where I got the car I wanted with more options and a lifetime powertrain warranty for the exact same price. They were helpful and easy to work with. AVOID MAXWELL AT ALL COSTS.Report
I had a horrible experience with this dealership. I purchased a car in January 2013, and they couldn’t find the specific car that I wanted so it needed to be a special order. The waiting period was to be three to four months. I agreed on the waiting period, and the end of may I went to check on the status of the car. The car was there and when I went to pick it up, they had ordered me the wrong color car.Report
So I requested to speak with a supervisor regarding the mistake. I spoke with one of the family members and she said that she was going to find the right color of car for me and she would call me to let me know what was going on. I never received a phone call or any other information about the car. I waited another 3 months before I contacted the dealership again so they would have the amount of time needed to re-order the car. When at the dealership I came to find out that they never ordered the car so I asked to speak with the owner to see what it kind of deal he can offer me to make this right after they made a mistake two times and I have waited over seven months.
He came back with the same deal that I received from another dealership in the area plus a set of mats.
I called to let him know that I was not happy with the deal and the answer was of course we will make profit off you.
This is the kind of service you receive from this dealership. They only care to make their money and they don't care about customer satisfaction at all
Use this review at your discretion and I hope this experience will not happen to anybody else. Good luck! I strongly suggest to shop somewhere else.
Genuine customer service, truly feeling like I was the priority.Report
Well, my experience with this dealership is a bit odd. I've been in the market for a new car, something like a CUV or off-road capable car. I ventured to a great many dealerships, and eventually decided on the XV Crosstrek. My experience with other Subaru dealers was... less than pleasant. Because it was selling rather quickly, most weren't willing to even negotiate. They demanded MSRP, and were content to ignore you if you weren't interested in that price. The only way I made any headway with these car dealerships, ironically, was to use Maxwell Volkswagen/Subaru's own Autotrader price quote as leverage. If you're asking why I didn't just negotiate with this dealership the first time, I'll just say that my family was involved in some of the initial negotiations (to impart sage advice) and didn't want to travel that far from home. So, to sum it up, the cars were selling fast, and dealerships wouldn't negotiate. Autotrader's listing reflected this, with dozens of cars listed at or near MSRP. All except for one car, on Maxwell's lot. By some strange twist of fate that had all the other Crosstreks selling in a matter of days, this one had lasted over a week and a few days. I still have no idea why or how. I'd attribute it to some sappy notion of fate or destiny, were I feeling inclined to wax emotional.I called Maxwell this Monday (December 17th, 2012), and inquired about the cars availability and price. While they did have the price, they were initially unwilling to budge on it. I managed to get them to come down on the "out the door" price, later, however. I believe the final calculation was around $23,000 for the vehicle itself, with a CVT gearbox and some miscellaneous options. If my numbers are right, which I'll freely admit they may not be, I purchased the car for $124 below invoice price. If I'm correct, that's a wonderful deal, especially when others aren't even negotiating. If I'm incorrect, it's still a wonderful deal, especially when others aren't even negotiating. Couple that with the fact that I wasn't hassled, or BS'ed, or really annoyed in any way while over at the dealership. My one and only complaint is actually a very small one. Most of the people I dealt with at the dealership were a little... odd. Odd is the right word. Not creepy, or annoying, just strange. I'm a strange person myself, but just know that your experience might be a little different than the normal if you visit these people. Also, as an aside, I'm going to throw a shameless self-advertisement into here. I really and truly did enjoy this experience, and the price I received. If you go there, make certain to tell them Thomas Blalock sent you. It's free money for me, and if you have the same experience as I did, everyone wins. If you don't, then feel free to heckle me, and throw tomatoes my way!Report
