Dr. DiReda began working in the field of addiction as a volunteer at a drug treatment hospital after completing his own addiction treatment 27 years ago. He has continued in his own recovery, and has been helping individuals, families, and organizations impacted by addiction ever since.
Being in recovery has allowed him to fulfill many personal dreams and professional goals. He has earned a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Work from Boston University, and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working in the field of addiction treatment.
He is also trained in the Systemic Intervention Model under Ed Speare who, along with Wayne Raiter, developed this innovative method of intervention. Throughout his career he has been a treatment provider, advocate, and educator in the field of addiction. He has written and published one book on addiction, and is currently co-authoring a second.
