I noticed a knocking coming from my engine and took it right in after making sure it wasnt due to something minor, like low oil. The first day i took it in, i was charged almost 70 dollars for a half hour of work. Where they told me what i had already told them was going on with the engine. I was told that they needed to take the engine apart to find the problem and that it would cost me 250.00 since it was a 2hr diagnosic job. I made the appointment and dropped off my car because i wanted the peace of mind of knowing what was wrong or if it was even worth fixing. I got my car back today. Not only did they not call me to tell me what they found, but they waited till i reached out to tell me they still couldnt figure out what was wrong with my car, and was charged 389.00 dollars instead of the quoted amount, due to extra labor and parts that i was not told about till after the fact. Im extremely distraught by the amount i dumped into the car, and i still dont know anything new about whats wrong with my car.ReportRe: I noticed a knocking comi ... J & S Automotive replied on Friday, November 26th 2021I'm disheartened. I spent about 4-5 hours trying to find a hail marry on this car. (only charged for 2) The reason Daisy had to call was because I was still working on the car in the early afternoon. Not the end of the day. Pictures were provided of failed parts in the top of the engine. But I believe it goes deeper. My failure was not telling Daisy up front about the gasket cost. This was written on the ticket. REMOVED VALVE COVER. CHECKED ALL VALVE CLEARANCE. ALL WITHIN SPEC. FOUND ONE EXHAUST CAM BUCKET WITH A DAMAGED FACE. SEE PICTURE. BELIEVE IT IS STICKING AND CAUSING NOISE. ALSO CHECK HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ROLLER. IT LOOKS IN GOOD CONDITION. REMOVED OIL AND FILTER AND FOUND OIL LOOKS TO HAVE METAL SHEEN. BELIEVE ENGINE IS FAILING. RECOMMEND COMPLETE OVERHAUL. Daisy, was called and message left for a partial refund. No return call back. I don't understand why some people don't understand why they don't have to pay for diagnosis. EVEN IF WE DON'T FIND THE PROBLEM! When you go for an MRI, CT scan, X-ray and they don't see anything. Don't you still pay for the procedure??? Maybe I'm wrong. Some places offer free diagnosis. I believe this causes dishonesty. Jon

I can highly recommend them. They are honest and as a single older woman I feel great about their service. I've been told by other shops I need service and then John checks it and says nope.
