The highlight hotel
We stayed in 4 hotels on the island and this was the nicest hotel in Mauritius! This lagoon is breathtaking! The beach is very big and there are always beach beds available.
Very large rooms and huge bathrooms. The bed faces the window so you wake up you see the beach, the water and the palm trees (in almost all rooms).
We didn't have such a breakfast in any other hotel on the island! Not just eggs, rolls, cold cuts and a little sweet, no! It was a real brunch. With a whole course full of Indian dishes, a large selection of fruits, freshly made waffles and crepes. As a veggie you didn't just have to eat cheese and as a vegan you really wouldn't struggle. And you have breakfast halfway on the stand with a fantastic view of the lagoon

We stayed at the Intercontinental for a total of 10 days at the start of December 2021. I will break up the review into sections so you can skip.
The Hotel: This hotel is not old in comparison to other IHG hotels we have stayed at and its generally very clean and smart looking.
The reception area, main foyer is hugely impressive with a view that would challenge most luxury resorts! The Pools: These are relatively shallow (i think 1.2 meters the deepest) and are designed for cooling off, little bit of swimming & relaxation. The main pool also has a jacuzzi area which is very nice. It also has a swim up bar, which is shaded, which is a nice touch.
The Rooms: These are spacious, clean and have fantastic views (the ones we stayed in and could see). The turn down service is also very nice - I Just wish the AC went cooler but that could have been me not using it right. The Food: The food, oh my days the food!! Amazing!!
We have eaten at some very good luxury hotels all over the world and the InterContinental's food stands with the best of them. Great variety for all tastes (I am vegetarian, my wife not). Freshly cooked and the a la carte food, again , is sublime! The lunch menu , outside the Senso restaurant again was brilliant (Try the mine frite - its the best I've ever tasted!) Restaurants: There are 2 closed at the moment for refurb (not looking far off now) but you can get the menu inside the Senso main restaurant and its all freshly cooked to levels stated above. The Senso Buffet itself has a huge selection of food at each meal time, but dont be worried about asking them to prepare you something not on display, the head chefs and their teams are very accommodating helpful people. They seriously are so good at their role & customer satisfaction. The Segala restaurant , situated near the boat house & watersports area, is mainly Mediterranean dishes and as you would expect lives up to the same standards as the others. Chef Leo & the team take great pride in what they deliver. You can also pre-book a table on the beach area rather than inside the Segala restaurant, so try that out as its very good during or after sunset. We did this and were looked after by Avinam on the beach for our celebration and he was brilliant, Attentive & funny. The Management & Front of House Team: This is Mauritius & if you have never been before, the people are wonderful, friendly, accommodating & helpful - Ishrat & the team are all this and more. They absolutely want you to have the best experience possible. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always on hand to help (any issues with excursions, taxi companies need calling, car hire need calling - they were there). We had no problems with the rooms or with any service with the hotel to go to him about, but every time we saw him (and any of his team) they would ask how things were, what did we think of x,y or z in the hotel - were the rooms cleaned right and so on and so on. Absolute 1st class customer service from the whole front of house team.
The Staff: Saved the best till last!
There are so many others to mention but we can't end this without mentioning the young man who helped make it such a good holiday and gave us so much information on the island & where to go (We hired a car for 3 days - recommended to explore on your timetable)
Silesh Appadoo. This intelligent smart young man is the empitome of great customer service at the intercontinental. Nothing is too much, no question is too daft and the way he explains the food to you is superb.
He is wasted (in my opinion) in his current role and has all the makings of a team leader, passing down his service & quality standards to other team members.
If I were the management team, I would be looking to put him on a leadership course, or similar, and trying to keep this diamond of a hard worker. Thank you so much "mate" :)

Very nice stay, great staff, fantastic food options on resort. A little pricey if not all inclusive but many free activities on site :)

Fabulous holiday. Lovely weather, clean resort / room cleaning, decent food and drinks. The staff were very kind, helpful, and clearly all there to give service from the porters in reception, reception/ check in staff, bar staff outside and restaurant staff/ management. Special mention to Brian serving around the pool bar, and Bhavana at breakfast / lunch waitressing. Thanks, from James and Jo x

Fantastic place. Beautiful rooms, views etc Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The whole resort was immaculate.
We found the food too spicy, limited choice and no change of menu for the whole holiday so the food was a bit of a let down. It was compensated by every other aspect of the holiday experience
