Jerry and his family are so comforting in the hardest time a person goes through. Easy to talk to. Plan everything with you, it makes a big difference, especially at this time that you go through. Thank you Jerry, Ken

Be warned, if you don’t want to wastes/items generated from your loved ones last days on earth rotting in trailers, you should look elsewhere… Disgusting! This funeral home also owns and operates a medical waste company noted in the press release below:

Tampa Medical Waste Company Fined $37,500 by Florida Department of Health

TAMPA, FL – A Tampa medical waste service company, Sharps MD, has been issued a $37,500 fine by the Florida Department of Health for the unlawful storage, management, and transportation of regulated medical waste as reported by ABC Action News.

Florida Department of Health reports state that inspectors found the violations during repeated visits to Sharps MD, a medical waste service company which collects, treats, and disposes of medical waste collected from hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare customers during June and July of 2018.

According to inspection reports filed by Hillsborough and Pinellas County Department of Health representatives, Sharps MD was found to be in possession of over 12 trailer loads of unprocessed medical wastes which had been stockpiled for over a year on the company’s leased property at 5438 West Crenshaw Street in Tampa. Florida statutes prohibit the storage of medical wastes beyond 30 days.

According to Department of Health inspection reports, Sharps MD was ordered to dispose of identified wastes earlier this year at the time stockpiled wastes were identified. Reports indicate that the identified hazardous material was transported by Sharps MD representatives in private vehicles leased from Budget Rental across state lines to a medical waste processing facility in Indiana. Sharps MD reported that wastes were delivered to MedAssure Services for treatment. MedAssure was issued a $26,000 fine by the Indiana Department of Labor earlier this year for violations of various workplace safety violations.

According to State of Florida corporation records, Sharps MD is part of network of ten different legal entities all registered with similar or identical company officers and addresses in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. These different legal entities claim activities involving franchising, the manufacture of medical waste processing equipment, software services, and bio-hazard supplies in addition to medical waste collection and disposal activities. The various companies have been and are currently listed as defendants in litigation regarding business negligence, franchise issues, contract disputes, employee disputes, and debt obligations according to State of Florida and Federal court records.

According to State of Florida records, Sharps MD is a wholly owned subsidiary of Waste Alliance, Inc., a company whose primary activity involves the sale of medical waste franchises. Waste Alliance is managed by Gerry Hubbell, who is represented as a member of the Belleair Rotary Club and current owner of the Hubbell Funeral Home in Belleair Bluffs, according to the company’s website. The site also references other company officers with felony arrest records in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties including the company's Chief Technology Officer, Basile Pertsas. Mr. Pertsas is noted as the Sharps MD representative for the numerous Florida Department of Health inspections and is currently awaiting trial for an arrest in August involving possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

Sharps MD and their associated legal entities are also the subject of numerous customer complaints regarding fraudulent charges for non-performance of contracted collection activity according to public reviews. The Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division encourages any party to report suspected fraud or unfair trade practices to them directly.

I also received an email in my spam folder and the only people I know in FL are family and I would have been notified by now of a death. I find it difficult to believe the tagline on the website "simply compassionate" if you are sending notifications via email or worse, spamming people.
