My husband and I came in town for a funeral and reserved a room at the Hotel Bethany Beach for two nights. Initially when I called to make the reservation, I let the receptionist know we may only stay in town for one night depending on family arrangements. I thought nothing of it. When we checked in, I mentioned it again and the staff behind the desk (which were not personable at all), said, "If you're reserving for two nights and leave early, you're still going to be charged for two nights because you're preventing the hotel from potential business." Okay.. excuse me? Its DECEMBER. It's off season and the hotel was NOT busy.. if anything, leaving a day earlier would be beneficial since our room would be opening back up. If it was during the summer months, I would completely understand. We decided to leave after the services along with the rest of the family and were charged for a two night stay when we only stayed for one. According to "management", the staff should have reviewed this information with us on the paperwork. That didn't happen and when I questioned the staff, they weren't able to give me a straight answer as to where on the paper work that 'rule' was stated. I've NEVER experienced this with any other hotel. You guys are ridiculous.

It would have been 5 if there was no issues with the chirping fire alarm, but the service was great. Although only one person was minding the front desk, he was very quick to resolve the issue. So it's really 4.8.

Great value. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good. Room was nice. Mattress was a bit firm for me but my wife was happy with it. I highly recommend it!
