Most hotels hold funds for incidentals ($50).This hotel authorized my card for $213.44 when I checked in , this included room tax and incidentals. They then proceeded to charge me $163.44 after they already had a hold for $213.44. Im under the impression that the hotel was payed because the funds were removed from my available balance. I also thought that it was pending because they would refund me $50 (incidentals) 5-7 buisness days nevertheless the money was already deducted out of my balance from this hotel. After hours of back and fourth with IHG, Navy Federal and the hotel manager I learned that they placed a 5-7 buisness day hold on the cost for my entire stay (room+ tax+incidentals = $213.44). Normally the AUTHORIZATION (PENDING CHARGE OR HOLD WHERE FUNDS ARE REMOVED FROM CUSTOMER) would be for INCIDENTALS ($50) only. When I checked out the system automatically charged my card for $163.44 (cost of my stay) but It was declined. I specifically made funds available on this card only for my hotel as I was traveling for school and my bank account stated they already had the funds. The hotel proceeded to harass me as though I did something wrong when they're the ones that authorized my card for more than it should've been. So when they charged it the funds wasnt available and I would have to wait 5-7 buisness days for the full amount of my stay to be returned into my account. Now the manager said she'll give me until friday before she takes legal action against me and that should be enough time for the bank to process the funds back into my account. The lady is very rude and nasty and dont know how to treat customers. She was very derogatory in her speach as though they didn't make the mistake and keep stating that "she wasnt the front desk agent that did it" and told my bank "I dont know what kind of activity this lady does by turning off and on her credit card when we're trying to charge it". My bank was on the line to state that the funds were already pending in my account but the hotel keep insisting they didnt have any pending transactions. Of course there wasnt any pending transactions in their system because it was an authorization so upon check out it was released. I would have to wait until it gets back to me in a few buisness days. The manager then belittled me by saying that " if the money is released from us during check out it has to go into space and process in a million pieces which takes time to get back to you but that doesnt change the fact that you have an outstanding balance". Working in the hotel industry her response should've been " ma'am im sorry that one of my agents made the mistake of authorizing your card for the full amount of your stay plus tax and incidentals and this may have inconvenienced you for 3-5 buisness days." The manager insisted that it is in their policy that they can put a security deposit for however much they feel like. Do not trust this hotel. The service sucks the glass shower has streaks from the water and mildew accumulated on it ( i had to switch rooms abd both showers were the same) the first room smelled like pee! Dont waste your time here! Brandon is the nicest person there the other ladies dont care. I had to call multiple times for towels because the lady forgot. The last few things I mentioned were minor to me but after spending a day of dealing with this days after my stay ended I just thought I should warn folks. The property and location is nice but the people behind the place are the weakest links.Report

(Part 2 continued) Michelle told us that if we have an issue with these things too, and I quote, “Don’t bother me” and “go to another hotel”. There was no need for Michelle to have been so impolite being that we were there to find some understanding with her and even gave an apology for inconveniences on our behalf. None of those virtues were reciprocated. Since her behavior was so unprofessional and ridiculous, my friend had to chuckle at the end of this interaction which she was predictably displeased by and responded with something along the lines of I don’t want to hear anymore from any of you anymore which was when we decided it’d be best to step away from the interaction. When we checked out this same night, she told my friend who was returning keys to the front desk, “Thanks for leaving”. It seems that Michelle doesn’t like to do her job, lacks patience for human mistakes, struggles to exchange basic respect to hotel guests, or be considerate of customer care. I think this hotel needs to work more on their customer service values and staff treatment. Until that’s solved, I do not recommend staying at this hotel.Report
So as Diamond members we checked in early on 9/1 and the nice lady at the front desk went ahead and provided us with a late checkout till 2:00 p.m...a nice benefit of our status. Our stay was wonderful right up until 11:03 AM when, while my wife and I were sound a sleep, housekeeping opened our door despite the do not disturb sign on it, walked into our room and turned on the lights. When we awoke in panic, housekeep left the room without saying a word or turning off the light.Report
Called the front desk to figure out why this happened, and the young lady told me that there is no note in the system for our late checkout. So my wife and I rushed to vacate the room. Came down to ask again about this, and the same young lady told me there must have been a language barrier, and that's why staff just walked into our room. 2 separate things from the same person. So I politely asked to speak to the manager, April Ouellette. I was told she was on a 2 hour conference call on Labor Day and would not be available to walk out of her office 50 feet away to address a clients concerns. I waited 30 mins, then to my surprise, the manager walked out (2hr ConfCall?)....it's the same lady that checked us in! April, the manager then told me it was just human error. Then I asked why I was told it was just a miscommunication due to a language barrier, and April told me that shes unable to communicate with housekeeping because they speak spanish. At least I know that's a true statement. Thank you, Holiday Inn, and a big thanks to Shivam Beach LLC and great job operating the business 1101 Beach Management INC. Do better for your all your guests... especially Diamond members 80 nights this yr alone
I’ve stayed at multiple hotels in the Jacksonville area and never have I endured such ill-mannered and inconsiderate treatment from a hotel staff member. I stayed not even a night with a couple of friends of mine to celebrate a belated birthday. We were sharing some laughs in our room and weren’t aware of how thin the walls were. By no means were we being destructive or rowdy on the premise. We received a loud knock on the door and were too intimidated to answer it being that we are young girls and knew we weren’t staying in the safest location. I also want to preface that we came in and out of the hotel lobby multiple times and couldn’t locate a single staff member. There also aren’t any gates to the parking lot at night or locked doors upon the hotel’s entry that requires hotel keys. Anyone from the street can easily walk into the premise and take the elevators. This staff member knocked on the door aggressively but didn’t address themselves verbally as staff when doing so which is common courtesy for almost all hotels. After being shaken up by the situation, we decided to call the hotel lobby from the phone on the nightstand. We got in contact with a worker, a lady named Michelle, who spoke to us in a very condescending and aggressive tone. She addressed to us that there had been a noise complaint and claimed to have called us multiple times and had just returned to the lobby from her second attempt to knock on the door. There wasn’t a single phone call given to us. Not to a personal phone or the hotel phone. She did make two trips to knock on the door. The first knock was extremely faint and more like a tap which we found very odd and something to not bother with. Michelle seemed to be very frustrated and we were a little puzzled by the situation. We decided it would be best to come to the lobby and attempt to clear some things up with Michelle and possibly find some understanding. When we approached Michelle, her demeanor was immediately very defensive. We explained to her the issues and concerns related to the phone, knocking delivery, and our reasoning for not coming to the door. Michelle was not willing to listen or be understanding to any of our concerns and was instead extremely unprofessional, discourteous, and inconsiderate to us as customers. When we addressed our intimidation of the knocking with no verbal identification of staff, she shouted at us that we should’ve looked through the peephole. When we told her that we felt uneasy about there being no staff visible anywhere in the hotel late at night and the lack of hotel security, Michelle ignorantly dismissed those concerns by stating that it’s just Jacksonville… (Part 1) Continued…Report
Twice I woke up and let the water run for 10 minutes and was not able to get hot water. Yes I took a shower in the evening and had hot water but in order to start the day for the golf tournament needed hot water and steam to relax my muscles in my body. Very disappointed because of the first IHG hotel that I've had this problem and their solution was to give me 3000 points back to me that is a slap in the face and disrespectful. No one wants to get up and take a cold shower in the morning.Report
