Unfortunately, I am someone who has lived through the nightmare of getting charged with DWI while having an innocent night out with some friends. I had a few drinks that night but felt confident in my ability to drive myself home. However, that is not exactly what happened. I was pulled over for an infraction in which an officer smelled alcohol on my breath. From there I was breathalyzed, placed in handcuffs and was told I was under arrest. I am someone who has absolutely no past with law enforcement, not even a speeding ticket, so you can imagine the absolute terror I felt that night. That night I blew a .08 at the police station, which makes for a very stressful case of innocent vs. guilty in the courtroom. I knew I was going to need a lawyer that was understanding, confident and someone I could trust. Ben was the very first lawyer my family and I spoke to following my arrest and I knew from one phone call with Ben that if anyone could get the job done for me, it was going to be him. Luckily, I was right. Ben let me know everything he needed from me every step of the way. I had no idea how the whole thing would be handled legally, but he always made sure my questions were answered with understanding. Ben spoke to me as a person rather than just a client and for that I was thankful.

Ben suggested we take my case all the way to trial and that is exactly what we did. I was found not guilty of my DWI charges, that of which were recently expunged. One of the worst things I've ever had to go through ended up having a postive outcome and without Ben and his team, I am unsure that would have happened. I would never hesitiate in recommending Ben to handle your case.

Ben took care of my case and I'm so glad he did. He really seemed to understand the situation at hand, give me realistic feedback and ultimately was able to get my case dismissed. For anyone looking for a great criminal attorney look no further then Ben Hiltzheimer. I was looking at very serious charges that could have easily resulted in jail time. I couldn't imagine going through what I went through without him in my corner. Prior to starting down this path with him I reached out to several criminal defense attorneys and the main concern upfront was could I afford to pay them and they barely gave me the time of day and in addition, seemed so cold to me. From the very first conversation I had with him I felt very comfortable. More importantly he was very compassionate!! If you are looking for a super knowledgeable attorney to fight for you look no further!!

He settled my case with the best case scenario possible and I couldn't ask for anymore than that as I did manage to get myself in trouble. It was also very comforting to be able to easily communicate with him as it was easy to get lost with these other firms where you leave a message with someone and get a call back 2 days later and yes that happened when I was looking around. Ben held my hand through this entire process and I was a mess as the charges were very serious.

Mr. Hiltzheimer made my unfortunate situation become a favorable one. I didn't have a clue on what to do next and what steps to take with this being my first charge ever. I experienced a horrible ordeal a couple years ago, soon after my father died. I was depressed and drinking heavily, but I was avoiding driving and so I was taking Ubers everywhere. I got completely wasted while bar hopping in downtown Durham, and while blacked out I got into somebody else's car that was unlocked, passed out, and must have kicked it into neutral at some point. The car drifted slightly down a hill, and the police showed up and charged me with a felony grand larceny charge for stealing the car and also a DUI, even though I didn't have keys to start the car. Ben helped me so much for the following 2 years by working with me to take it to trial.

His personal relationship with the prosecutor created the conditions for both charges to be dismissed eventually. I might be the only person ever to have almost gotten a DUI without even starting a car haha. Without Ben's effort, I might be in jail today. It was the best money I ever spent. Thanks Ben!
