Add ReviewWhen someone you love is in crisis you desperately put a lot of faith and trust in professional help. That faith and trust is completely exploited at Highland Ridge. My loved one was transferred here from an emergency room without my knowledge during the very brief time I had left his side. I was never contacted by Highland Ridge as per protocol. Getting any information or talking to the therapist or doctor is a full time job. The therapist was indifferent to our entire situation and even when pressed for professional suggestions wouldn't offer any. Medical treatment that I was assured he would promptly receive was grossly delayed. There is no intent of help or healing from this place, it's simply, a bed. His personal belongings were "lost". He was refused water. He spent his entire day just trying to advocate for a drink of water. I'm so disappointed that in a time of true desperate need, this is the quality of care given in quite literally, life and death situations. My loved one is an assertive, seasoned adult that is very capable of speaking up for himself and was genuinely afraid of doing so. What kind of culture is that for a Hospital? What is happening to the younger patients that don't know how to advocate for themselves? I am writing this review for the admitting family seeking help. I know how desperate it feels to be in the situation that you are searching for somewhere for your loved one to be safe and heal, I know how difficult and expensive these choices are. This is not the place. Highland Ridge, you are a critically needed resource to this community. Please, take that responsibility seriously and make the necessary changes to become a respectable medical facility or get out of the business, you are doing more harm than help.Report
Doesn't ever deserve one star this place is awful. Charged me 15k for a week and didn't help my daughter at all. No follow up help either. Total home beware. I saw both good and bad reviews and took a chance I regret. Go to the u of u this place will make your teen a better criminal.Report
I wish I could give this place negative stars. They're wasn't any sort of treatment for me while I was there, they didn't help me with my eating habits, or address anything I was there for the whole time I was theyre. They automatically upped my dosage from 25 to 75 without addressing me, I've never hated a place so much before now. Don't send your family here to get treatment. The nurses made you feel like you didn't matter, the therapist would always ignore you if you wanted to speak with her, and ooh don't forget group time because they thought group would help more then one on one time.Report
I rarely leave reviews, this experience requires me to tell others. Dr. Brown and a few others were good, caring people. In general my experience was that the culture of the employees was that patients weren't human. We had lost our rights because of our mental illness. I couldn't get a cup of water without feeling like I was being a nuisance. I hoarded 1/2 cups in my room. I broke my foot while there and couldn't get even Tylenol and Ibuprofen on a consistent enough basis to manage pain. They didn't have anything to help. After 3 days of horrible pain my wife finally brought me a boot so I could at least curb the swelling. Many, including me, had their belongings lost/misplaced, and most of the staff couldn't care less. If there was a motto posted on the wall that embodied their culture it would be: Oh, oops, I forgot about that. I'll get that/do that. (Actually I'm just going to ignore/forget again). I heard it 10 times a day (yes, I counted my last couple of days). This isn't "psych wards are really hard so I leave a negative review." This is a company wide culture problem. Highland Ridge- please improve, your patients need you.Report
All of these reviews are true. This place is unclean, the nurses aren't vigilant or patient, they don't do anything but feed you meds, and see that you don't try to harm yourself or others. It took days to get in touch with a therapist or proper nurse while there, as if I was being ignored. I was one of the less behavioral patients when I was there, and got almost completely overlooked. When you are released, they like to charge ridiculously for therapy and psychiatric care. They took my account to collections after a few months of being released, even though I was paying towards it every month. Very low quality establishment. Will not recommend to anybody, even on their most dire day.Report
DO NOT send any loved ones here. All they care about is keeping you there for as long as possible and do not help with anything. They just want your money. They would straight up lie to me about doctors coming in to see me at 6 in the morning when I know for a fact they never did and their response was "you were probably half asleep" If I needed something important to talk to my doctor, wouldn't it be better if they talked to me when I wasn't asleep? ridiculous. After being there for 5 days is when I met with a provider for the first time, when I was given my clothes for the first time and I NEVER was able to brush my teeth the whole time I was there. I had to ask for a simple cup of water 3 times before I actually got some. They would yell to get out of the way. They would say "get out of bed or I will drag you." They did not know any of my medical history because no one even asked. My whole family never knew I was there because they didn't let me contact them. They will only give you one plate of food and if you are still hungry, you can't eat more. I was told my husband was crazy and was told my depression was not severe enough because I was able to take a shower everyday. I kept telling them I wanted to leave and they did not let me, even if I were to sign an AMA form they said it would just extend my stay! I went there for help and all it did was give me a traumatizing experience and make my mental health worse.Report
i have gone to a few hospitals for my mental illness and this one is by far my favorite one. Mostly because the doctors and other staff are so considerate, respectful and kind. They got me my medication and helped me with therapy when i needed the help even though they have long shifts and have their own issues. Thank you for going the extra mile to not only treat my symptoms but to care, as well.ReportRe: i have gone to a few hosp ... Highland Ridge Hospital replied on Thursday, October 28th 2021Thank you! If you have a loved one who is going to or currently in this hospital, you need to do whatever is in your power to get them out. This hospital is a sad excuse for a rehabilitation center. While I was there I had important medications that were withheld for most of my stay, and after complaining to several nurses one of them finally got a hold of a doctor who wouldn't let me have them because "I had refused my other medications." The medications I "refused" were never reviewed with me and I didn't know what they were until I was nearly discharged. It is practically impossible to speak to a doctor or therapist here, though I was very frequently told someone to would see me, they never did. Because of my unique diet they chose to simply feed me less food rather than work with my dietary needs, and then had the audacity to have a dietitian come see me because I was losing weight. Several techs and nurses were extremely rude to patients and one even seemed like they were trying to intentionally cause trouble. On my second day I filed a grievance to see a patient advocate, and never saw her. I had to call the hospital after being discharged to ever hear from her. They said "we'll address these issues and get back to you" and I've heard nothing since.Report
This place is not only unhelpful to your mental health, but in many ways is harmful to it. I advise everyone to stay far, far away from this place at all costs. I cannot understate how horrible it is. I have many more horror stories to tell but am choosing not to for anonymity. The best way this hospital could improve is by being shut down entirely.
I've tried contacting them multiple times, multiple ways. I still have yet to talk to anyone. I would go in in-person, but they sort of left a bad taste in my mouth with their lack of response.Report
