If I could give zero I would. They have been out 2 times to hook up my service. Both times they said they couldn't hook it up due to the fiber not being spliced yet. Now they told me it will be another 2 to 3 weeks before they can schedule me and then another 2 to 3 weeks once they schedule me do to being so busy. You would think a customer that has taken 2 days off work already and needs to take a third would some how beable to be squeezed in. The customer service in Winona was 100 times better then what I am getting now. Extremely disappointed. Doesn't look good when your company comes into a new town and gives terrible customer service.

Horrible customer service. There is one lady that is extremely rude to you on the phone. We had a payment arrangement with HBC. Paid our bill was shut off the very next day. Times are tough during this padmaic. I get it, but supervisor and one of their office care person older woman by the sound had horrible customer service when we called on the phone. Internet lags badly. Hope these people have better customer care service. Treat others how you wanna be treated. Been in customer care service for over 15 yrs. Not impressed.

Worst internet I have ever had. Zero stars. My internet was having issues about 2 months ago. On and off a lot of the time, but I dealt with it. 2 weeks ago, the internet was gone. I had a technician come out to check it out and they couldn't find anything. They said it's probably the modem......if it happens again call us and we will get you a new modem. Guess what.....it happened again the next day. Needless to say, I went and exchanged it for a new modem AND router. This also didn't work initially and had to call again for them to fix something on their end. I did have internet for about 4 hours today with the new modem and router, but was kicked off again. I have been on hold for 18:53 minutes trying to call their "24 hour" customer service. What will happen if I pay my bill half the time????? I have never missed a payment!!!!! I've always been on time. How come since my internet works half the time,I can't pay my bill half the time?????? I'm still on hold........right now all I'm trying to do is get ahold of someone so they can come get their blank blank that doesn't work. I'm done with HBC!!!! Word of advice to anyone looking for a quality internet provider, use anything but HBC.

I've lived at three addresses in St. Charles over the last 20 years, and have had HBC internet service for most of that time. This review considers only their internet service, as I don't care about TV or phone.

First, the bad: HBC's offered speeds are limited, here in St. Charles. Service does occasionally go out, more often than weather/maintenance would lead you to expect. Usually in the small hours of the morning, but frustrating regardless.

Sometimes I get their outsourced call center. They're always nice, but usually know less than I do about what's happening or how to fix it. Especially frustrating when their default answer seems to be to blame my router.

On to the good: HBC's in-house staff is phenomenal. From customer service reps to technicians, I've never had a bad experience with an HBC employee. I've had techs out maybe a dozen times over the years, and they're always pleasant, helpful, and persistent in tracking down whatever issue is going on. Every issue I've ever had has been resolved by these fine folks.

My speeds are usually as-advertised, within a reasonable margin.

Employees are usually pretty open about what they/the company are doing, and why. From technicians explaining why they think X is the problem, to reps explaining why St. Charles doesn't have fiber or what upgrades are going in, the general policy of communication is clearly represented. A good explanation makes a bad situation more tolerable, and I appreciate it.

Prices are very competitive. In other areas, with other companies, I could expect to pay $30-40 more for equal/worse service.

Overall, would recommend. I think they're the best ISP in town, and if they continue to hire and keep good people, and continue their upgrades, I think they're likely to stay the best ISP in town for a long time.

Have had lots of problems with them.
I have one tv I'm the house that for some reason has no signal anymore. I asked for a reduction on my bill for the next month due to the face that I cant watch tv on it so I shouldn't have to pay full price if not every tv in my house isnt working..never took a reduction off. Many phone calls later I still dont have a working tv. They keep saying they are going to have people come out and that they would contact me for schedule set up but after over a month I'm the one calling them all the time because they never follow through

Been using HBC for years. Switched from Charter Communications, same service but fiber optic...almost no downtime, and for far less. I'd recommend them to anyone#
