More About Friendly Electric LLC

I was born and raised in Minneapolis MN. I grew up in a lower income area and was raised by my mother. I was the kid that never had any money when my friends wanted to go to eat or a movie. My father wasn't really in my life other than Christmas. I didn't really have any mentors and anyone pushing me in the right direction. I struggled in school because I wasn't really interested and had a hard time concentrating on the subjects I wasn't interested in. I graduated high school and took a job in a warehouse. My uncle worked in a warehouse and made good money. After a few years working there I looked at my coworkers that were 5 times my age and realized we were making the same wages. I decided I could do better for myself. I always heard electricians made good money and I was very hands on. I took it upon myself to go to Anoka Technical College and inquire about their construction electrician program. It sounded like a good fit for me so I quit my full time job and started school full time. I didn't have a lot of confidence because I never really got good grades. My first semester I had a B average and realized I was smarter than I ever thought. My grades continued to get better and I gained tons of confidence. I ended up graduating with a B average and am proud of that. I joined the union after graduated because my family was very pro union and I have seen the benefits they had. I went through 4 years of apprenticeship through the IBEW local 292 and finished with an A average. During our apprenticeship we transferred to a different company every 6 months. It was a great way to expose us to different companies and foreman to realize it's not always the same. After I earned my Journeyman's License in 2004 I landed a job with one of the biggest electrical contractor in the Metro Area, Hunt Electric Corporation. It was a great fit at the time and after a few years I moved up to foreman. I spent the next 10 years with Hunt and it was a great company to work for. I always had a dream of owning my own company but had to put it off due to the recession. I was happy to have a job and did everything I could to keep it. After the recession started to lift I figured now was the time. I went and earned my Masters License in 2014. I left my job with Hunt Electric in April 2015 to get some new experience to benefit my business. I worked for a very successful home service company in the metro. It was a good fit and I learned a lot. After a year of employment I realized that my true passion was doing it all myself. So here I am, doing what I always wanted to do and loving every minute of it.
