We have searched our system and no one named either “Rena” or “Kimmel” has ever contacted our office to inquire about legal services, nor been a client of Freed Marcroft. As we have never had contact with the writer of this review, we did not have any opportunity to exceed his or her expectations, which is our goal in our client relationships. That said, Freed Marcroft welcomes any client, potential client, or even non-client to call us to discuss their concerns.

To Pricey for what I need, and I was asked to send more money before my paperwork was done.

If you're looking to make a complicated and difficult situation even more stressful than look no further. Freed Marcroft will provide you with the least responsive employees at the highest market rate. Cost went far above what was anticipated and there was ZERO litigation involved. Save yourself time, money, and a drive into Hartford.

Freed Marcroft has not represented a client with either the name “Jem” or “Alamo” or any variation. Although there are many opportunities to “take down the temperature” and resolve issues outside of court, very few divorce or family law cases involve “zero” litigation. Additionally, the vast majority of our clients have not been to our physical Hartford office in two years — from the beginning of the Covid pandemic we have been serving clients virtually via Zoom and other platforms. Regardless of the above, this firm's door is open to any client (or non-client) concern and this person is invited to call and discuss his or her concerns without charge.

I went to them because they have a reputation for being the best, and they were. From the moment they picked up the phone everyone was kind, respectful, patient, and took me and my problems seriously. They also told it to me straight so I didn't waste a lot of energy and money chasing things that were never going to happen. Also the court staff clearly both respects them and likes them, which I know helped me actually get a court date scheduled during covid. I trust them, like them, and actually kinda miss them - not that I want a second divorce ;) - I will hire them for a prenup if I get remarried, though!

Selected appt for first phone call to go over my need for an attorney. Appointment was made and an email added it to my personal calendar. Well, today the appointment came and went with no phone call or email explaining why. Your website needs to be clear so if you are able to make appts. online, then the customer should be able to trust that someone will call and be available at the time and date specified. Thanks but no thanks.

First class. Great communication, gave me all the pros and cons of my different options. I ultimately decided to settle my divorce instead of court, but I knew they had my back either way. The negative reveiws here are just people whining because they didn’t get free legal help. Give me a break, divorce is serious you want a serious lawyer who obviously also needs to get paid. Divorce isn't fun, but she's top notch.

When first calling the office, I specifically wanted to work with Attorney Misty(not sure last name)
I did not get this attorney and for some reason I’ve gotten passed around to two different attorneys in the beginning.
Now, I paid $7,800 to start off as the retainer. Somehow, after a few 10-20 minutes phone calls, there was almost $2,000 taken out of that $7,800. I was obviously not happy at all. Then I was asked to pay to get my retainer back up to $7,800… so I did… Ever since getting my retainer back up to $7,800 there has been absolutely NO activity from my Attorney on my case. No meetings, no phone calls, NOTHING. So you would think my retainer would remain at the full amount…………. SOMEHOW my retainer is now around $6,400…… where is my money going if the case has not been worked on?????
I also have called the office to see if I can get answers and the receptionists act as if they take down messages, but then I receive no calls back… communication is poor.
I actually am very stressed that I don’t know where this money is going. Not sure if I would recommend.

Dear Ms. Perez, we were surprised and disappointed to learn of your confusion and frustration regarding your invoice when we read your review, especially given that we so recently spoke. We will not respond substantively here, as doing so could reveal your confidential information and your privacy is of the utmost concern to us. That said, it is absolutely critical that we be on the same page. We will reach out to you when our offices open first thing Monday morning.

Take it from me, don't go with someone else just to try to save a little money on your divorce lawyer. It will wind up costing you much more time money and stress than if you just did it right and hired FM from the beginning. I met with them at the start of my divorce, but thought my divorce would be 'simple' and I could use a 'less expensive' lawyer. All that's less expensive is the quote. It turned out everything FM predicted happened, and I came back to them with my tail between my legs having spent a bunch of money on the other lawyer with a mess they had to undo.

I usually like to be extremely local when it comes to the businesses I patronize, but sometimes you need to venture outside small towns a little when you want the best. They are the biggest most specialized and professional divorce attorneys in this part of the state. I initially went with someone in town and regretted it, my situation was too complex and important to stay with a lawyer who was experienced and well intentioned but trying to do everything herself with maybe one paralegal. Everything about Freed Marcroft was professional from my first call with Melanie. To put it bluntly, they have their "stuff" together, a class act. They care and take you seriously and they are smart, fast and responsive. They are high-end so it's a financial investment, but so is divorce. Start with the best.
