Mediation is a process whereby an impartial person, the mediator, provides assistance to parties that are engaged in conflict to help them settle the dispute. Formal court procedures do not apply to mediation. All discussions are confidential. The mediation is conducted through a joint session or sessions with the parties, in a private discussion with just one party (called a “caucusâ€), or both.
