Chapter 7 Bankruptcy:

Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a federal debt reorganization plan available to those with a regular source of income. Chapter 13 involves proposing a 3 to 5 year repayment plan based on your ability to pay. The plan must be approved by a bankruptcy judge. It may be more beneficial for your situation because Chapter 13 allows you to wipe-out debts that are not dischargeable under chapter 7 such as parking tickets and in certain situations second mortgages.
