I took my car in for preventative maintenance (oil change and transmission fluid) and ended up with a broken transmission. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2 together. I understand cars age over time and miles, but it’s a bit too coincidental if the transmission breaks within the same week of getting service at the dealer.Report
If you are a GTR owner, DO NOT TAKE YOUR GTR IN FOR SERVICE HERE. I’ll start from my initial experience and give every detail. I booked my appointment online for preventative maintenance and scheduled an oil change and transmission fluid change. I purchased my car back in February and drove it with no issues at all. Once I brought the car in, they needed to verify that the gtr tech was even working. From there, they told me that the price for the service that was posted online was not correct and that the service was going to cost significantly more. We agreed on a price and proceeded. I left the car at the dealership and picked it up once finished.
Here’s where it gets dicey: Within the same week of me receiving the vehicle and driving barely 300 miles, I get a transmission system malfunction followed by an engine malfunction code. I immediately towed the car back to the dealership.
The “GTR Tech” Eli, made up a bunch of what ifs rather than explaining the true root cause of the problem. He gave me multiple hypothetical scenarios of what could have caused it but was not qualified to be able to accurately articulate the root cause of the issue and left it at “it was potentially the previous owner”. He cleared the fault codes on the car and told me that it was safe to drive only for the vehicle transmission to fail while I was barely 10 minutes away from the dealership. This is the reason I’m exploring litigation for confirming that the vehicle was safe when in fact it was not.
Against my better judgement, I took the car back to the dealership because I wanted them to actually fix the issue. Instead of taking ownership and Eli just coming out and saying he wasn’t qualified or could not figure out what the root cause was, I was told that the whole transmission needed to be replaced.
The service advisor Jessica did a poor job at following up on the issue, did not leave voicemails, and did not follow up when asked I had a request for the tech.
Overall, this was the most poor experience ever. I’ve been weary of dealerships and have now been vindicated in my hypothesis that you cannot trust dealerships. Take it to a third party.
Lastly, the service director Jaime is incredibly kind and helpful; but you’d had better get a serious pulse on the workforce and their ability to do said job.
The start was a little sluggish, I took my car in for oil change. The young lady that helped to fill out the paperwork was not very good or happy about what she was doing. I had a 10:30 appointment and got there earlier than 10: 30 because I work evenings. The young lady kept the paperwork at her desk and my car at the entry spot where I parked when I first drove up. MANAGER TIME! I spoke to the manager and he was awesome, got the ball rolling and got me Out of there quickly and effectively. That's the reason for the 5 starsReport
