I work as a nurse here in New York for almost 8yrs. I’m the only child of a Veteran and a housewife who now has Alzheimer’s disease. When I first heard about the news, I was devastated. My mom was a jolly and fun-loving person. I wanted to give up my job but my father didn’t want me too. He assures me that he could take care of my mom. My parents live in TEANECK, NJ miles and miles away from me. I try to visit them every day off and holidays but most of the time I just give them a call. As we all know, being a nurse is a hard job. We have to show up for work even at the most unexpected time or situations. The hospital I work in has a wifi spot and if a have a chance I give my dad a call. I know how hard it is to take care of an Alzheimer’s patient. I call him up to give him a boost and to ask how my mom is. But every time I call what do I get?? An echo and a static! It’s so depressing. Knowing how much I want to talk to my dad. And when I go online, it’s like we are playing a “fill in the blanks” game with the kind of reception that I have. A co-nurse of mine saw me having a hard time with the reception and offered to lend me his Clear 4g. Initially, I never had any idea what it was. When he told me that it was a plug and play, portable internet connection, I thought it was going to be worse than the reception I already had. But I used it anyway, and to my surprise it was incredibly fast! After that I decided to get one for myself. Now, I get to talk to my dad and my mom almost every day it doesn’t matter where I am.
