Candlewood Suites Richmond - West Broad

Subpar communication and management, especially with their sales rep out of town. The entire stay I had no idea of my rate, I filed a complaint and obviously it was not of concern to their manager! Called prior to check in to see what a travel nurse rate was. instead of 3 months i was doing 2 weeks, for 3 weeks I tried seeing if this rate still applied since it's not extended; if not, I would've checked into a standard hotel for the remaining 2 weeks. A handful of times sales was emailed but became a dead end since they was on vacation my entire stay, which I didn't know.
Once I was told they won't be available I asked for their manager on a Monday to discuss the rate to front desk. Thursday I went again to front desk, stating I'm now making a complaint and wanted to speak to the GM and saw them hand the GM my contact info. Called 3 hours later and was told he's still busy.. early Friday afternoon no call, so I called guest relations for a complaint. Relations said the manager will call urgently, it was the front desk answering my question but I had follow up question. I didn't get called back so I went up front and the GM hollered the answer from his office.
If there's a complaint, typically they're addressed quickly especially if guest relations are was notified. If sales was there I'm sure it would've been a different scenario. Front desk and all the staff I spoke to was extremely friendly and no issues or complaints to them. Regardless, I will not stay here and will relay this post to travel nurses group page

Full size refrigerator and mini kitchen. Floor was sticky and had some spots on it. Bed nice.

This is a long term stay facility with many families staying for extended stays. Not suitable for the standard business traveler

This is not the place for a business traveler or tourist looking for a 1 or 2 night stay. This is an extended stay hotel with maid service once a week. There are lots of families staying here and it reminds me more like a short term lease apartment building.

We have previously stayed at this facility and it was ok, that's why we returned. This visit however was not good and we are canceling our next reservation with them. Uncomfortable bed and the sofa was completely worn out. They sold our room while we were still staying there to another person. They are a pet friendly facility now which is an issue if you have allergies or don't mind being kept awake by barking dogs at night or very early in the morning.

The location and price of this hotel were positive. Unfortunately, there was a cigarette smoke odor in one of our rooms. Since there were no more pet friendly rooms available, we could not be moved. It was Thanksgiving day. We could not pack up and head to another hotel.

This hotel needs 24 hour service. Bathroom issue should have been addressed. I should have had to use the bathroom on the first floor.

I can't recommend this Candlewood Suites. My bathroom had a hole in the wall where the toilet paper holder should have been, there were other holes/damage to the drywall in the bathroom and mold. The furniture was very dated and felt more like a cheap motel than a Candlewood Suites.

On the positive side, the staff was very courteous and professional.
