Blue Ridge Excavation

BEWARE!!! I would avoid hiring Blue Ridge Excavation run by Alex Jones of Hampden, MA to do any work unless you plan on paying him the entire amount after the entire job is done and double-checked. We hired him in June 2020 to make a concrete patio platform in our backyard in Wilbraham. He was paid half upfront and after he completed about half of the job, he was paid the rest of the total amount and that was when everything went from fine to a disaster. After he was paid the total amount for the job, he never returned and ignored all forms of contact. He poured the concrete patio but never did the stairs that he was paid to do so no one can use the concrete patio as there is a 3-foot drop from the doorway going to the house. He ran out of concrete on the side of the platform so he got another batch that's a different color. He never sanded the side of the platform so the concrete has giant groves in it down the side. He drove a bucket loader onto our relatively new, previously pristine driveway and left a giant 2 foot crack in it. He was supposed to level out and re-sead the grass after his machinery destroyed half of our backyard, ripped up most of our grass, and left giant ditches all over. He left trash all over the backyard that we had to pick up. Those are just some of the problems he left. He never showed up to finish the job, left his mistakes, kept the rest of the money, and ignored every call, text, and email we sent to try to contact him. He purposely kept his voicemail box full so no one could leave voicemails. We tried contacting him from multiple phone numbers, email addresses, and social media accounts over a few months and he would ignore us. It is now October 2020 and the job is still not finished despite the contract saying the job would be finished within 30 days (which would have been mid-July.) We asked around and later discovered he had done the same thing to other customers so who knows how many other people he has done this to. We really didn't want to have to do this but it seems like we won't be getting the job finished or our money back so we felt that we should warn others that may consider hiring Alex Jones or his company, Blue Ridge Excavation. I can provide pictures to anyone who would like to see his poor example of a "job."

Keep your distance! Will not do business with this company because they've demonstrated that they're incapable of driving a pickup truck responsibly and as a result can't be trusted to safely operate any kind of heavy machinery. Blue ridge truck passed us driving recklessly and well above the speed limit. They then swerved and nearly went off the road as they switched lanes in front of us. Driver clearly doesn't understand that driving like an a$$, with the company name and website plastered all over the truck, isn't good for business. Look elsewhere.
